IFC - International Finance Corporation announced a $100 million financing package for Banco Pichincha aimed at promoting sustainable development in #Ecuador through loans for women-led microenterprises and sustainable agriculture projects.   The investment will significantly improve access to financing for women-owned microenterprises and support climate resilience initiatives in critical sectors such as agriculture and fishing.   "For years, we have relied on the trust of multilateral organizations that share our vision of generating a positive impact on Ecuadorian society and promoting more sustainable practices among our clients. ¡IFC continúa rompiendo récords de inversión en México! Capitanes, la columna editorial de negocios de Grupo REFORMA, resaltó el positivo rol contracíclico que IFC desempeña en el contexto actual de la economía mexicana. A propósito de la visita a México de Elizabeth Martinez de Marcano, directora para Colombia, México, Centroamérica y el Caribe de IFC, Reforma apuntó que IFC alcanzó una cifra récord de inversiones de más de US$1,200 millones en 2024. Este año fiscal 2025, revela el diario, será aún mejor para la institución, pues IFC cuenta ya al cierre de enero con inversiones aseguradas por cerca de US$1,600 millones. IFC pronostica superar los US$2,000 millones en inversiones para el cierre de 2025. La mitad de estos proyectos, señala Capitanes, son gracias al nearshoring. La misión de Martínez Marcano en México consiste en explorar más posibilidades de crecimiento y continuar rebasando las expectativas en 2026. IFC opera en el país desde 1957. Enhancing Brazil's Infrastructure through Public-Private Partnerships Emmanuel Nyirinkindi, IFC's Vice President of Cross-Cutting Solutions, recently spoke with Rogerio Jelmayer of BNamericas about IFC’s significant contributions to Brazil's development through our advisory work on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). Their discussion highlighted the importance of PPPs in Brazil and across the Latin America and the Caribbean region, emphasizing how IFC collaborates with governments and the private sector to enhance infrastructure. This collaboration is crucial for advancing the World Bank’s goal of improving the quality of life for communities and families. Nyirinkindi remarked, "Infrastructure development is on everybody's mind because it opens up the economy; it makes countries more competitive. It allows new and good jobs; it's great for economic development..." Brazil is at the forefront with major PPP projects, effectively leveraging private sector participation for national development. The resilience of its economy and robust regulatory framework make it a standout in the region. Countries like Jamaica and Colombia are also making significant progress. 🤝💵👩🌾   Una alianza para impulsar las finanzas climáticas en #Honduras:   IFC firmó un acuerdo con BANHCAFE, reconocida institución bancaria del país centroamericano, con el fin de ayudar a la entidad a desarrollar nuevas soluciones financieras y no financieras para agricultores y pymes agrícolas, con base en la denominada agricultura climáticamente inteligente (ACI).   ¿Qué es la ACI? Se trata de un enfoque integrado que aborda dos desafíos interrelacionados —la seguridad alimentaria y el cambio climático— y busca producir tres efectos directos en forma simultánea:   ↗️ Mayor productividad e ingresos 🌤️ Mayor adaptación y resiliencia 🟢 Menores emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero   Puntualmente, IFC acompañará a BANHCAFE en el diseño e implementación de una estrategia a 2030 que le permitirá al banco expandir su cartera agro y fortalecer su posicionamiento en el mercado, además de ayudar a mitigar los riesgos climáticos físicos y de transición de Honduras.   ¡Felicitamos a BANHCAFE y a su equipo directivo por su compromiso!
