The Rutgers Research Technology Transfer team is proud to collaborate with Dr. Molnar by managing the licensing program for his agricultural innovations. Learn more about how they can support your commercialization journey by visiting innovate.rutgers.edu. #RutgersInnovation #RutgersResearch
Thomas Molnar, associate professor of Plant Biology at Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, has received a $170,000 research grant from Ferrero to lead a research team looking to transform the mid-Atlantic into a hub for hazelnut cultivation. The grant will go towards the development of hazelnut cultivars that are resistant to a fungal disease called eastern filbert blight that has hindered U.S. hazelnut production, as well as educational efforts to teach local farmers how to grow hazelnuts and develop new cultivars that can thrive in colder climates.
