Researchers from University of Georgia - Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and University of Georgia College of Public Health found that fish oil supplements could help guard against the overall risk of developing cancer. Based on data from more than 250,000 people, higher omega-3 and omega-6 levels were associated with lower rates of cancer, suggesting that the average person should focus on getting more of these fatty acids in their diets. https://ow.ly/tf1m50UfPMB | #UGAResearch #Science #Innovation #Health

University of Georgia - Franklin College of Arts and Sciences researcher R. Kelly Dawe is using a $1.8M grant from The National Institutes of Health to explore how a genetic mechanism in corn, the breakage-fusion-bridge (BFB) cycle, mirrors a process that fuels cancer. By activating and studying this cycle, Dawe’s work builds on groundbreaking discoveries from the 1940s to unlock new insights into DNA changes and cancer’s genetic roots. https://lnkd.in/eQTvyGzk | #UGAResearch #Science #Innovation #Health
