Meet Kenny, a Business Strategy Senior Manager, on Indeed’s Product Excellence team who served thirteen years as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the United States Army. During his military career, he held several roles, including Company Commander in South Korea, where he led the training, development, and readiness of 115 soldiers. “More than anything else, my military service taught me the importance of teamwork, resilience, and integrity,” Kenny shares. “In the military, we are often challenged to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty. You quickly realize you are a part of something much bigger than yourself and that any enduring success is dependent upon empowering your teammates, finding the resilience to overcome adversity, and demonstrating the character and integrity that builds deep trust.” Now, as a member of Indeed’s Product Excellence team, Kenny focuses on evolving Product Development practices and our Product Operating Model. In his role, he strives to empower Product teams to build products and experiences that meet customer needs while aligning with business goals. The leadership lessons Kenny gained in the Army have been instrumental to his success at Indeed. “The military taught me that the only way to achieve success at scale is by defining a clear vision, empowering teams to do their best work, and having the humility to implement feedback along the way. Those are all skills I strive to reflect in my work each day.” #WeHelpPeopleGetJobs #WeHelpHeroesGetJobs #VeteranHiring #MilitaryHiring #InsideIndeed

At Indeed, we believe that everyone deserves to be able to show up to work as their true self. Our commitment to LGBTQ+ equality has a rich history that spans across all aspects of the business and is reflected throughout our values, inclusive policies, employee-led initiatives, community partnerships, job seeker resources, and perhaps most visibly – through our ongoing participation in global Pride parades. Earlier this year, Indeedians and their loved ones marched in annual Pride parades in Tokyo, Dublin, and Austin. Hear from Indeedians as they share their favorite moments and why Indeed’s visibility at these parades matters. “Indeed's visibility at Pride celebrations matters because it demonstrates the company's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Public support for Pride aligns with promoting LGBTQ+ rights and inclusivity, which is crucial for businesses like Indeed that serve diverse communities and employees.” - Robin, Austin “It matters that Indeed is actively participating in local Pride Celebrations as it sends a message to employees that their place of work is welcoming & cares about the LGBTQIA+ community. Not everyone is lucky to be able to be their flamboyant (or demure), truthful self as they navigate life - but if Indeed can relieve a tiny bit of the burden for 8 hours a day at work, we've won a small battle. During the parade, I felt a sense of belonging and unconditional love coming from every angle! It was heartwarming (despite the cold rain) to be surrounded by positivity & big smiles on everybody's face.” - Thibault, Dublin "I was blown away by the number of encouraging comments that everyone left on the booth. It was a great mechanism for showing that we have many voices and that everyone is cheering us on!" - Ben, Tokyo Pride is more than just a month. It’s a movement. One that should keep going after the last parade ends. Indeed puts Pride into practice all year, every year. That way, everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community who is in a job, or looking for one, can always feel welcomed and celebrated. #InsideIndeed #WeHelpPeopleGetJobs #BelongAtIndeed #Pride

Throughout Indeed, the Unidos Inclusion Business Resource Group (IBRG) celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month in September and October by hosting an array of events for employees #InsideIndeed, both virtually and in-office. From movie screenings to networking sessions and more, these events provided opportunities to celebrate and learn. Unidos, along with other IBRGs, not only shared the history and heritage of Hispanic and Latino Americans but also highlighted their past and present achievements. For Emma, a Quality Support Operations Analyst, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is deeply personal. She shares, “It’s an important part of my identity. I cherish my background and traditions and hope to pass them on to my children.” She adds, “In Latino culture, we often consider our colleagues and friends extended family. Unidos has fostered a sense of community that enhances team cohesion and collaboration. Sharing our traditions with fellow Latinos has been a wonderful experience. Even though we come from different countries, we discover so many similarities in our family lives.” #HispanicHeritageMonth #HHM #BelongAtIndeed

This October, we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Declan Carville (featured right), VP of Scaled Business Success and Executive Sponsor of Access —Indeed’s Inclusion Business Resource Group focused on raising awareness around apparent and non-apparent disabilities in the workplace—shares his insights and advice for navigating the next opportunity, his evolving perspective, and tips for work wellbeing for those newly diagnosed. “Since becoming the Executive Sponsor for Access, my perspective on the disability community changed; people have been more willing to tell me about their disability stories, the challenges they face and the successes they have had. I have learnt from the stories shared. It has made me more aware of accommodations that I and Indeed need to put in place.” “Nearly a third of people have apparent and/or non-apparent disabilities, so you are not alone in seeking new employment opportunities. Knowing that you are not alone can be so powerful when pursuing an employment opportunity or even a change in career.” Declan shares. “Here is my advice for anyone navigating their next career move.” 1️⃣ Focus on Your Strengths: Identify your strengths and tailor your CV/resume to highlight them. If you're missing key skills, seek them out through courses, reading, or relevant projects. 2️⃣ Leverage Your Unique Advantage: Think about how your disability can be an advantage. Personally, I have Aphasia, which hampers my speech somewhat, but it is an advantage because I think more about what I want to say. 3️⃣ Connect on Indeed: Once your CV/resume is ready, upload it to Indeed Resume and connect your skills to your profile to best present yourself to employers. 4️⃣ Be Upfront About Accommodations: Research companies’ disability policies, but if they don’t have one, don’t hesitate to ask for accommodations during interviews or for the job itself. Additionally, Declan provides work wellbeing advice for those who newly identify with a disability: “First of all, like I said before, you are not alone. Think about what challenges you face and what you need to be successful. Your needs are valid. If you need accommodations, talk to your Manager, HR, or Inclusion Business Resource Groups like Access. For me personally, doing exercise or spending time with my family recharges me to ensure that I can work comfortably." #NDEAM #DisabilityInclusion #InsideIndeed

“Five and a half years ago, I relocated from Minneapolis to Austin and discovered an opportunity with Indeed’s Customer Success (CS) department. I vividly recall my interview and the excitement I felt about joining a tech company.” shares Danielle, a Legal Operations Manager, Product & Marketing (featured right) whose career journey at Indeed has been filled with exciting challenges and rewarding growth. “During my time in CS, I developed a deep passion for acting as a liaison between the business and our clients and enjoyed collaborating with my Sales representatives. Two years into my journey, I sought a new challenge but knew I wanted to stay with Indeed and leverage my CS experience while working more closely with our products and how they are built.” “This led me to a role as a Legal Analyst on the Legal Product team, where I later helped establish the Legal Staffing team, supporting Indeed Flex and Hire. Today, in my managerial role, I support Legal Product and Marketing, helping provide legal review across the business. Every day, I’m motivated by the supportive and encouraging people around me—those who have guided me through each new role, kept me committed to the company, and ensured that I always had something challenging and rewarding to work on.” “Indeed has given me not just a career but the flexibility that allows my husband (a fellow Indeedian) and me to explore new cities—from Austin to DC to Denver—while enjoying the stability of a job I love.” “The most rewarding part of my job? It’s evolved over the years, but right now, it’s the people. Every day, I’m thrilled to connect with folks who are passionate about their work, bring humor and intelligence to the table, and are simply wonderful individuals. Transitioning to management hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been incredibly fulfilling to support my team’s growth as much as they’ve supported mine.” “When I joined Indeed, it was only my second job out of college. I never imagined that my third, fourth, and fifth roles would also be here. But I’m incredibly grateful they have been—those growth opportunities are what keep me here.” #InsideIndeed #WeHelpPeopleGetJobs #CareerJourney

As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close, Stefanii, Campaign Manager for Enterprise Lifecycle, shares her reflections on the significance of this celebration and the powerful sense of belonging she's found as a Unidos Inclusion Business Resource Group member. "Hispanic Heritage Month means everything to me! Representation is incredibly important. This month allowed us to showcase all that we are! Each of us are so unique, yet so similar. It allowed us to occupy space and educate others about our cultures, countries, and origins. I enjoyed having the opportunity to celebrate my beautiful country and reminisce about all the unique aspects that make it (and ME!) so special." Stefanii also emphasizes how Unidos has been a cornerstone of her experience at Indeed. "One of the things I value most about working at Indeed is being part of Unidos. The community and connection it provides have been so comforting, especially after my recent move to NYC. I knew I'd find friends and a sense of belonging here. The energy within Unidos is unmatched, and I love having a space where we can thrive, embrace our culture, and support each other." #HispanicHeritageMonth #HHM #BelongAtIndeed #InsideIndeed
