IONIQ SOLID is a start-up company to be created emerging from the historical “ESPCI” school in Paris known for having graduated famous French researchers like Paul Langevin and Frédéric Joliot-Curie and hosted no less than 6 Nobel prizes. Following a long-standing tradition in the discovery of innovative materials, the IONIQ team aims at developing and selling disruptive energy storage solutions based on a ceramic material dubbed “h-Bar” as a wink to the technology’s quantum background. At IONIQ, we think that energy storage technologies need to be efficient but also perfectly in line with the greatest human challenge of all-time concerning Earth climate and must respond to sustainability and recyclability criteria. After years of fundamental research in quantum solids, the team has is proud to present a new class of Li-free, Co-free, Ni-free solid-state energy storage devices powered by matter phase transitions and quantum phenomena. The IONIQ solution departs from all the existing technologies for energy storage as H-Bar is composed of abundant, recyclable and price-stable elements forming a solid derived from the well-known perovskite family. It behaves like a solid-state sponge storing electricity. It captures ambient water and dissociates it into charged ionic species. h-Bar is then able to store charges over days and months and to generate electricity from their movements inside the ceramic even at low and high temperature (-30°C-> 90 °C).
