Each student selects eight of our corporate partners for a 10-minute sales meeting during this event. This is a graded event, but it often leads to job opportunities. The Accounting Student Mixer was a big success! Many students interested in an Accoutning degree came to meet current accounting students and Beta Alpha Psi members and candidates. They also had the opportunity to learn about the TSCPA resources available to them as students. Great connections were made and they had a lot of fun with games, giveaways, and food. A BIG thank you goes out to Christopher Ramos, TSCPA Student Ambassador, Jada Edwards, BAP President, Karis W., BAP President-Elect, Rumi Inoue, BAP VP of Reporting, Jake Morris, Accounting Department Executive Assistant, and Kyle Baker, Accoutning Department Administrative Assistant.

Thank You, MTSU! I was recently honored alongside some other incredible MTSU alumni Tosha Price Derria Ford, MBA, Ed. D and Victoria Butler. This recognition gave me an opportunity to reflect on my journey that began nearly 30 years ago at MTSU, a time when I was figuring out the direction for my life. As part of that reflection, I thought about what MTSU provided me as I started the beginning of this long and winding road. To that end, there are 3 things that MTSU provided that have undoubtedly shaped my life: 1)     Education: MTSU and the Jones College of Business taught me some invaluable lessons. While many of these lessons I learned through my accounting classes, they extended far beyond the subject itself. Those lessons focused on Resilience and Hope. From Paula Thomas and the other amazing professors in the early years to Joyce Thompson Heames in the modern day, the care for students and the lessons of grit will continue to provide rewarding careers to students who simply want a chance in life. 2)     Friendship: MTSU gave me bonded, lifelong friendships. I am still close friends with the guys I fortunately met during college. They keep me young, grounded, and remember all the dumb mistakes I have made! 3)     Family: MTSU gave me a family. Most importantly, I met my wife, Minya, at MTSU. Throughout the years, she has been my biggest supporter and constantly gave me the push that I needed. She was effective with our family so I could be effective in my career. None of this would be possible without her. She has raised 3 great kids (Tanner West) and we are incredibly proud of each of them! When I graduated MTSU, I hoped for a great career, bonded friendships, and a wonderful family. To that end, dreams really do come true. Thank you, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU)!
