Yes, you can teach financial literacy to a 1st grader – just don’t forget the Hatchimals. Saira Malik, Chief Investment Officer at Nuveen, a TIAA company, says it’s never too early to start teaching financial literacy. The key is making it interesting. “I show them that financial literacy can be fun. It can be something we’re talking about when you’re watching TV, when you’re looking at social media, when we’re shopping at Target looking at toys," she told LinkedIn News at the Milken Institute Global Conference. Try this 5-minute productivity trick 👇🏽 Author and productivity expert Ali Abdaal used to keep a five-minute hourglass on his desk, which he considers “one of the highest ROI purchases” he’s ever made. Whenever he’d find himself procrastinating, he’d turn over the hourglass and say to himself, “I’m just going to do this until the time runs out.” Yet, Abdaal rarely noticed when the five minutes was up—by that point he had become fully engrossed in the task at hand. “The way we overcome inertia is by literally just making it as easy as possible to do the thing for five minutes, says Abdaal. “If we can just do whatever we can to just get started, chances are our productivity will take care of itself.” Listen to Ali Abdaal’s #EverydayBetter episode with Leah Smart here: 🎧 Apple: https://lnkd.in/gbuWtYSt 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gSjZBS5S

*Courage* is required to be a good mentor. “Show a little courage on behalf of others and figure out what you have to give, not what you have to get…it feels better,” John Hope Bryant, CEO of Operation HOPE, told LinkedIn News at Milken Institute Global Conference. “Try to unleash the untapped human potential of the person that you’re looking at who reminds you in many ways of yourself,” he adds on how to be a good mentor. “Having that humility but confidence at the same time is the key to life, not just the key to mentoring.” What’s the key to being a good mentor?
