Increasing the level of private investment into emerging markets is essential to accelerating the global climate transition. Yet often these regions are deemed to be too high risk for investment. 📢 That’s why we are proud to have been appointed* by British International Investment (BII), the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor, to support them in engaging the global investment community to help boost the flow of private capital in emerging economies. This is part of a broader BII £100m Mobilisation Facility announced by the UK Prime Minister at this year’s UN General Assembly, to unlock hundreds of millions of pounds of private capital into climate and sustainability-focused investments in these regions. 📅 Early in 2025 Mercer - Investments and BII will be launching a call for proposals from asset managers to submit their best investment ideas to mobilise investment in climate-related projects in these markets. The selected partners that demonstrate the potential for significant mobilisation, scalability and sustainability will have access to BII’s new Mobilisation Facility. 👉 More information about the initiative and the preliminary selection criteria, including how to register interest, can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gAdwsVvk Follow our channel and BII to hear when the process begins! We want to hear from you: interested and eligible applicants are invited to email their questions to bii_mf@mercer.com. * This post is distributed directly because of our client engagement by BII.
Increasing the level of private investment in emerging economies is essential. BII is proud to be launching a new facility to boost the flow of private capital into these countries. The new facility aims to unlock private capital in climate and sustainability-focused investments in emerging economies that are currently deemed to be too risky by global investors. As a development finance institution, we aim to use concessionary finance to give global investors the confidence to put their capital where it is most needed.
