🎙️New Podcast episode! Farming is not just a business. It’s also a lifestyle and culture, making it different from other family businesses and subject to various market and natural factors. So when a farming couple separates, how are the assets split? What should it be considered? In this episode, Tim Whitney and Jennifer Curtis are joined by Mills & Reeve Principal Associate, Ania Tarasiewicz, who specialises in complex family law cases involving agricultural and property sectors. Together they discuss farms on divorce: the complexity of divorce cases involving farms, what the client’s priorities should be, the court’s approach, the importance of financial disclosure and when to involve experts, and the benefits of non-court dispute resolution. Speaking at the IAFL: International Academy of Family Lawyers US/Canadian Chapter meeting in lovely Charleston, South Carolina with Bruce Hale on international surrogacy. Sadly Shirley Eve Levitan couldn't make it from Canada. Thank you Melissa Kucinski for the invitation to speak and for rallying all the panelists. And you can't come to Charleston for a conference without getting Stephanie M. Brinkley to come along.

The United States has a longstanding reputation for being the go-to destination of choice for international surrogacy. There are a number of reasons for this, but undoubtedly many international parents are attracted by the availability of a US passport for surrogate-born children. With President Trump signing an Executive Order on his first day in the office, declaring that children born in the United States would no longer be entitled to United States citizenship if their parents were not US citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents, how will this impact children born through surrogacy? In this blog, Colin Rogerson, discusses birthright citizenship in the USA, anti-abortion laws and the impact on IVF and surrogacy. Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/dU4AxjMp
