Check out "Prevention and screening drive drop in cancer deaths," in the latest NIH Research Matters. The article is based on a recent publication, led by Katrina Goddard, Ph.D., director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)’s Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, and DCP Director Philip Castle, Ph.D., M.P.H., which describes how improvements in cancer prevention and screening have averted more deaths from five cancer types combined over the past 45 years than treatment advances. https://go.nih.gov/pkcDGOy #CancerResearch #CancerPrevention

Multi-cancer detection (MCD) tests are a new type of blood test designed to detect multiple cancers. Despite limited evidence on their benefit, some of these tests are currently available to the public as cancer screening tools and many more are in development. Research is underway to try to address the many unanswered questions about cancer screening with MCD tests. Learn more: https://go.nih.gov/7bKrv69

📣 New funding opportunity! The purpose of this Notice of Special Interest (#NOSI) is to promote studies examining the mechanisms by which obesity drives aggressive prostate cancer risk. About 80% of overall prostate cancers are non-aggressive, but the biologic mechanisms driving both overall and aggressive prostate cancers are uncertain.
