🎓✨ Today, we were thrilled to host 28 post-graduate students from Goldsmiths, University of London studying Curation and Archiving! After an introduction covering Ovation’s history and expertise, we explored key themes such as: 🖥 Digitization 🏷️ Creating and enriching metadata 🔍 Improving search and accessibility 🛡️ Preservation of digital collections 📜 Sam Everest shared fascinating insights from his work on Napoleon-era documents, historical photos, and rare coins, including Ovation's approach to handling valuable and often priceless heritage materials. ⚙️ Meanwhile, Phil Webb gave a behind-the-scenes look at our equipment used to digitize legacy media and detailed our digitization processes. The visit sparked engaging discussions on the relevance of legacy systems and the power of digital technologies and AI in modernizing archives. We enjoyed attending the Museums+Heritage Show at Kensington Olympia London and meeting passionate suppliers and vendors to talk about museums, galleries, heritage sites, and cultural attractions worldwide. Happy World Heritage Day! 🌍 World Heritage Day, also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites, was established by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in 1982.🏛️At Ovation, we love to celebrate the cultures, histories, and natural wonders that make our world extraordinary. This annual observance serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding these treasures for future generations to enjoy and appreciate. Today, we’d like to celebrate an important project we’ve recently kicked off for Camden Place where we are creating a #digitalarchive of their history. A great lady from the house’s history is Empress Eugénie de Montijo who lived in exile at the house from 1870 to 1881. Did you know that from 1853 to 1870 Eugenie de Montijo was the last Empress of the French? She was an extremely resourceful woman whose influence has left its mark. In fashion she launched the careers of Worth and Louis Vuitton, opened the Suez Canal and acted as Regent when Napoleon lll was absent. A close friend of Queen Victoria’s, she was politically active and impressed the Prussian Chancellor Bismarck so much that he called her 'The only man in Paris'. So today, we take pride in raising awareness about cultural heritage and the efforts needed to conserve it.
