Inspired by Aidan Madigan-Curtis's thought-provoking take on CES 2025. While CES showcases tech advances, she points out the need for transformative solutions to global challenges. At H&S we believe in technology's power to drive meaningful change. Let's shift focus to groundbreaking innovations addressing climate disasters, energy grid limitations, supply chain issues, and more. How can we harness the excitement around tech to solve pressing global problems? 💡 #CES2025 #TechForGood #DigitalInnovation
CES is dead. The most 'exciting' inventions on display are shockingly mediocre representations of technology incrementalism at its finest. The next version of smart glasses (a category that still hasn't emerged), yet another wearable, the 4826th roomba knock-off. More tech-enabled vehicles (uh hello: cars are driving themselves these days in San Francisco [Waymo] and London [Wayve]). Large, smart, 'display-only' farm equipment that isn't truly deployed or operating autonomously. Meanwhile, LA is in flames and we haven't invented proper fire response solutions for the super-infernos of the 21st century. We're rocked by hurricanes and other natural disasters, with hundreds of billions in property eradicated and lives lost (per year). We don't have a grid modern enough to power our AI revolution. We can't manufacture enough of our own goods, build enough homes or produce enough food to lower inflation (prices are just supply vs demand). Technology can solve these problems. Arguably, it's the only way to radically move the needle on them. The next generation of new technologies is physical and industrial, if you have an audacious idea that is truly world-changing, or a product that is already scaling and making a real difference, reach out to us @Eclipse. www.eclipse.vc https://lnkd.in/gujH74cu Lior Susan Angela Hayward Laura Spaventa Lewis Heather Mack Seth Winterroth Ryan Gibson ashwin pushpala Boris Sofman Kevin Peterson Alex Kendall Justin Butler Greg Lyon Kaitlyn Glancy Charly M. Green steel production is making strides, with companies developing methods to use hydrogen made with renewable power to produce steel, potentially reducing the industry's carbon footprint dramatically. 🏭➡️🌱 Steel production currently accounts for about 8% of global carbon emissions, but these new technologies could bring that number close to zero. @Stegra's plant in Sweden, set to begin production in 2026, could be the first industrial-scale operation of its kind, producing 4.5 million metric tons of green steel annually. While this is just a small portion of global steel production, it's a promising start towards a cleaner, greener future for the industry. 🌍 #GreenSteel #CleanTech #SustainableIndustry

Addressing the addiction crisis requires innovative solutions. A new proposal from Federation of American Scientists suggests expanding the FDA's priority review voucher program and extending market exclusivity for addiction medications. This could revolutionize treatment options for substance use disorders, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of lives. Key points: - Only 3% of eligible patients receive SUD medication - Pharmaceutical R&D in addiction medicine is nearly non-existent - Proposed incentives could stimulate private-sector interest - Modernizing FDA efficacy standards for SUD trials is crucial As addiction-inducing technologies evolve rapidly, we need equally powerful innovations to reduce addiction rates. Read the full proposal below. #AddictionTreatment #HealthcareInnovation #SubstanceUseDisorder
