  • New report reveals German supermarkets can hit climate targets AND save money! Great news for the future of food in Germany 🇩🇪 A new report from Madre Brava, co-authored by Quantis, a BCG company, reveals a pathway for German supermarkets to achieve their climate targets and save money by 2030. 💰🌱 The key? A shift towards plant-based proteins. The report finds that by offering 30% more plant-based options alongside sustainable farming practices and reduced food waste initiatives, supermarkets can significantly reduce emissions while cutting costs. Here are some key takeaways: - The ‘Big 4’ German supermarket chains (Edeka, Rewe, Lidl, and Aldi) can significantly impact the sector's emissions by adopting these practices. - The most cost-effective measure is a strategic shift towards more plant-based proteins and less meat and dairy.  - This strategy can save €156 per tonne of CO2 reduced! - Madre Brava urges supermarkets to take action and implement these recommendations to achieve their climate goals and benefit from cost savings. This report is a game-changer for the German food industry. It demonstrates that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand. 💪 Let's encourage German supermarkets to embrace a more plant-based future. 🔗Link to the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gGjSXtA4 #Retail #PlantBased #NewFoodHub #MadreBrava
