About us

The RISEnergy (Research Infrastructure Services for Renewable Energy) project aims to create an ecosystem to accelerate innovation for the use of renewable energy sources and the commercialisation of their respective technologies as Europe powers towards reaching its net-zero emissions goals. Above all, access for researchers and companies to research infrastructures in European and non-European countries will be facilitated. The project is coordinated by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), with the key participation of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) and several of its member organisations. Moreover, the RISEnergy consortium comprises 69 technology institutes, universities, and industry partners from 22 countries.

    🚨 Just in! Applications are now open for the INFRACHIP Research Accelerator Programme on "Integrated Power and Energy Systems". 📣 Calling all interested PhD students and early-career researchers to apply for this upcoming short training, taking place at 📌 Tyndall National Institute in Ireland from 5-7 March 2025. 🤝 Organised in association with us here at RISEnergy, this programme will give successful applicants the chance to 💡 expand their knowledge on: ✔️ Micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology  ✔️ Energy harvesting and storage  ✔️ Integrated magnetics research And that’s not all! Participants will also 🔍 discover more about our work at RISEnergy in ensuring free and easy access to research infrastructures for energy systems.     🔔 New #training offer! This time, PhD students and early-career researchers can apply for a short training at Tyndall National Institute in Ireland! The Research Accelerator Programme will be on "Integrated Power and Energy Systems". 📆 March 5-7th 2025 📍 Tyndall National Institute, Ireland 🎯 Lectures, lab visits, hands-on experiments, discussions with experts 👩🎓 Interested PhD students and junior researchers (up to two years after completing your PhD) 💰 Financial support (EU funds) 👩⚖️ Registration deadline: December 3rd 2024 Details ➡ https://lnkd.in/ekjkkuNb 💬 Through this training, 6 successful applicants will get an understanding of aspects of Integrated Power and Energy Systems research work that is being carried out by various research groups at Tyndall National Institute. They will understand the technology of #MEMS, #Energy harvesting and #storage and get an overview of integrated #magnetics research. Participants will also be introduced to another programme – RISEnergy – from the European Commission, which offers free access to infrastructure for energy systems. ☝ This RAP is organised as part of brokering of services along with RISEnergy.

    🚀We are glad to share that RISEnergy’s second project meeting was a big success!  👉Yesterday, 90 participants from the project’s network joined this key gathering to discuss our achievements so far, while also looking ahead into the main upcoming activities to be implemented. Let’s dive deeper!🤿The meeting notably explored: 🎯 Three key project highlights over the past eight months, including the opening of both the first Transnational Access call and the Innovation Collaborative Services, as well as the launching of the project website. 🗣️ Comprehensive updates from our work package leaders on the core efforts of each of the five project sections. ✅ Best practices to learn from going forward, drawing inspiration from information and communications technologies (ICT) and power electronics ecosystem initiatives. 🔜 Next steps for the project and important dates coming up soon.     This week, we are happy to 🎙️ introduce the third work stream of RISEnergy, importantly focused on creating cross-cutting research infrastructure services to ensure more effective ⚡ renewable energy systems. ✅ That’s right! This section of the project is dedicated to fostering multidisciplinary 🤝 collaboration, most notably across different technologies and stakeholder groups. 🔍 Skilfully leading the efforts of this work package is Mike Hayes, Head of Group, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Energy Efficiency at Tyndall National Institute, a key European 🔬 research centre in integrated ICT materials, devices, circuits and systems and a research flagship of University College Cork. 💭 Sounds interesting?
