Youth Education & Entrepreneurship Program supported by the Schneider Electric Foundation in South America, year in review: As part of #SchneiderElectric’s ongoing efforts to educate one million young people in energy management by 2025, tens of thousands of youths in South America have benefitted from training in the last year. We believe that by equipping young people with future-ready competencies, we can help bridge employment gaps and drive innovation. 81 812 people were impacted in the region this year, including over 53 thousand in Brazil and 15 thousand in Colombia. Here are some of our programs in impacted over 5000 students in Brazil: 💚 Enactus – Through the Enactus Core Program university student teams to tackle challenges faced by their communities, with the help of mentors from companies like ours. This year 2300 budding entrepreneurs in Brazil were impacted. 💚 Afesu - Associação Feminina de Estudos Sociais e Universitários – Through Schneider Electric’s partnership with this organization - aimed at offering young women professional training – we were able to touch the lives of 125 women in São Paulo last year. 💚 @UNLINS – This agreement saw us work together to enrich the lives of 3150 people in prison during 2024. Additionally in Colombia around 5000 students were impacted through Addendum ACTEC and Enactus programs and in Argentina 8400 students were trained in collaberation with Fundación Educando. Schneider Electric in South America also teamed up with a number of new partners in 2024 to drive the youth empowerment agenda. 🌍 A Roundtable for East Africa's Youth Skills, Education & Employment #SchneiderElectric recently participated in the Global Business Coalition for Education roundtable discussion in Nairobi, Kenya. The event titled ‘Harnessing the Power of East Africa's Youth: Skills and Employment for the Next Generation’ brought together business, education, youth and government leaders. The event, held last week, tackled key issues like unemployment and the youth skills gap, focusing on digital inclusion for upskilling. It also investigated ways of various sectors collaborating to align learning with industry needs and drive sustainable jobs 🚀 During the round table discussions, different sectors - government representatives, private sector players, people in the education space as well as education activists - were given the opportunity to share the impact and activities that they do. Janet Langa, Youth Education and Entrepreneurship Program Country Manager & Schneider Electric Foundation delegate for East Africa, shared how Schneider Electric contributes towards education, training and employment through our Youth Impact Through Learning initiative. She spoke about the importance of training trainers adequately to ensure lecturers are familiar with the technology, to enable them to transfer their knowledge. International Day of Women and Girls in Science 🌍 Today, we celebrate #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience! At Schneider Electric, with Schneider Electric Foundation we'd like to highlight one of our successful projects aimed at inspiring girls to pursue careers in science. In partnership with CEFOM, a vocational training and maintenance center in Cameroon, we have been dedicated to improving the lives of young women through vocational technical training. Since 2016, we’ve been empowering the lives of young women and girls with our Youth Education & Entrepreneurship program We are excited to announce that we have extended our agreement with #CEFOM for an additional five-years, aiming to upskill 1,200 youth in energy-related fields 🤝 Unfortunately, young women in Northern Cameroon often face limited opportunities due to societal barriers. #SchneiderElectric, with the support of the Schneider Electric Foundation and Enactus – an international NGO – staged the competition in four countries - Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria. The challenge, encourages young people to develop innovative battery models to address energy challenges, while benefitting communities and the environment. Teams received training from industry experts, participated in workshops, and engaged youth in communities to develop their innovative solutions. Well done to the following winners: 🏆Nigeria’s winning team, from Federal University of Technology Owerri Nigeria, developed the MAX Battery. It regulates battery temperature and integrates IoT-enabled remote monitoring to enhance battery lifespan. 🏆Kenya’s winning team, from Strathmore University, conceptualised AfterLife which addresses the rising challenge of lithium-ion battery waste. 🏆South Africa’s winning team, from Central University of Technology, Free State, developed Kratos Batteries which utilise recyclable materials and have an AI-powered battery management system. 🏆Zimbabwe’s winning team, from University of Zimbabwe, created 7EN Battery which is a smart self-regulating battery system designed to enhance energy storage solutions. With the collaboration of ODP Jesuitas del Perú thanks to the program Youth Impact through learning, Schneider Electric’s teams in Peru have successfully implemented technical education initiatives for students in the outskirts of Lima, equipping them with key resources, including the donation of 67 laptops.
