The dust has finally settled after an incredible week at the SEMA Show for ROCKWORKX! A big thank-you to everyone who made it all possible. We’re thrilled to share that our Hitch Step Multi-Tool received not one but two awards at the show: the Global Media Award and the TORA - Offroad New Product Award! 🎉 What many don’t see is the hard work, long hours, and dedication it takes to bring products like this to market. For this tool, it took over two years of design, development, and rigorous testing—not to mention countless bent prototypes along the way. I couldn’t be prouder of our small but mighty ROCKWORKX team for their commitment and creativity, and I’m so grateful for the recognition at SEMA. Here’s to many more adventures ahead!

Yesterday, the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable announced new economic data from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis that highlights how much of an economic driver outdoor recreation is within the U.S. economy. The data shows that outdoor recreation in 2023 generated $1.2 trillion in economic output and accounted for 5 million jobs. That’s 2.3% of the national GDP and 3.1% of U.S. employees. The BEA’s numbers verify the rapid expansion we’ve seen firsthand in the off-road and overlanding industries. Motorized recreation is a lifestyle and passion for millions of Americans; the money that OHV and overlanding enthusiasts invest in their vehicles is a key economic driver of the outdoor recreation economy. Organizations that support motorized recreation are major employers in gateway communities and throughout the country, where specialty aftermarket businesses manufacture, install, and sell parts that upgrade the safety, comfort, and performance of SUVs, trucks, and OHVs, through enhanced wheels and tires, suspension upgrades, lift kits, winches, lighting products, and more. TORA has named Ernie's Custom Shop as the council's newest member spotlight company! 👏 In 2010, Rok Industry, now known as Ernie's Custom Shop, began designing and building themed vehicles for corporate companies and events. In 2011, the company built and designed a truck that was on display for the SEMA Show that year and it was a huge hit. It was a unique build--a Ford F-350 standard cab where Ernie's Custom Shop cut the frame and converted it to a short bed. The build brought them a lot of attention, and before they knew it, they were receiving lots of requests from local residents for custom builds and vehicle modifications. Since then, Ernie's Custom Shop has slowly grown to be a tiny-but-mighty shop for the Chicagoland area, and has continued to build SEMA Show vehicles every year since. Thank you! 🙏 With the help of our customers, industry friends, and local community we were able to raise $22,600 at the 2024 WCFab Open House in support of future generations carrying on the Made in America tradition. Every other year, we open our shop to the public and host a truck gathering to benefits the Wehrli Custom Fabrication Scholarship Fund which helps local high school students intending to pursue a degree or certification in the trades. We also donate 5% of our merch sales (t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc) each year to continue to grow this DeKalb County Community Foundation managed fund. For whatever else the world may say about the diesel and truck enthusiast community…you all are some of the most dedicated, hard working and caring folks we know and are extremely proud to call you our friends and family. 💪
