  • Navigating Europe’s complex tolling network just got easier for fleets in Croatia. 🚛 Shell has launched a new post-pay tolling solution across the nation’s largest motorway network: 🔗 Contact a Shell representative today to see how fleets can simplify toll payments and drive efficiency across the region: https://lnkd.in/eTpXszRV. Shell’s new solution aims to make journeys easier and more convenient for fleets travelling on the 1,140km of motorways managed by Hrvatske autoceste d.o.o. (HAC) in Croatia. Using the local post-pay solution in combination with the Shell Card, allows commercial fleets to enjoy: ✅ Seamless travel through toll booths — no stopping or slowing down at tolling points ✅ Direct discounts from HAC for post-pay users ✅ Deferred payments, improving cash flow and operational efficiency By simply linking the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) on-board unit (OBU) to the Shell Card, fleets can experience faster, smoother journeys across Croatia’s open and closed toll systems. But that’s not all — Shell’s expanding this offer across the Balkans and will be the first tolling solutions provider to introduce post-pay options in North Macedonia, making it easier for fleets to travel through the region. All that’s needed is an active post-paid device for Serbia (a service already available to Shell Card holders) to activate tolling in North Macedonia. Shell is committed to providing smarter, more flexible and transparent tolling solutions, ensuring heavy-duty fleets reach their destinations faster and more effectively. #FleetManagement #Tolling #ShellCard #TollingSolutions Cautionary Note: https://lnkd.in/e9eu5Jyt

  • Can commercial road transport fleets overcome the 'chicken and egg' scenario holding back electrification? We asked experts from the OEM and energy sides of the equation to find out: https://lnkd.in/en2wFxch Nearly two-thirds (64%) of fleets believe the energy infrastructure needed for emissions reduction is currently not robust or reliable enough to support their operations [1]. This situation undermines not just the business case for EV truck adoption, but also the commercial viability of further investment in the charging infrastructure itself. So, how can this be resolved? Our latest Q&A article sees Aleid van der Wiel, Head of Public eMobility & Power at Shell Commercial Road Transport, and Matthias Schlagenhauser, Senior Product Manager Depot-Charging Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus SE, share their insights, exploring: ⚡ The challenges holding electrification back 🔌 The importance of strategic charging infrastructure 💡 Why collaboration between OEMs and energy suppliers is essential [1] Shell. • Did you know the demand for natural gas is projected to reach record highs in 2024 and 2025 as markets return to more pronounced growth? This is according to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Global Gas security review, released earlier this month. 📈[¹] As fuel demand rises, efforts are underway to further explore liquefied natural gas (LNG) decarbonisation pathways for the commercial road transport sector. Bio-LNG continues to emerge as one sustainable solution for fleets looking to decarbonise today, with lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional LNG or fossil-based diesel. 🐄 How? Bio-LNG is produced by upgrading biogas through the anaerobic digestion of organic waste, such as manure, agricultural waste, and food waste, into biomethane—also known as renewable natural gas (RNG). [²] The resulting biomethane is chemically similar to fossil-based natural gas, but it uses bio-waste as a feedstock to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its lifecycle.[²] 🚚 As a drop-in fuel, it works effectively in LNG trucks and within existing refuelling networks, offering fleets a scalable solution to gradually increase the share of bio-LNG within the fuel mix over time. Bio-LNG is becoming an increasingly important part of heavy-duty transport’s energy transition, helping to maintain operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Ready to learn more? • We’ve commercially partnered with FastVAT to make VAT and excise duty refunds even easier for Shell Card customers! See how this can help fleets save money without the need for time-consuming admin. For heavy-duty fleets transporting goods, recovering VAT and excise duty payments across Europe can make a significant difference to their liquidity (and their ability to optimise their investments). However, the process for claiming these refunds can be difficult and time-consuming. The differences in legislation between EU countries means there are different rules and timelines for each – often requiring fleet managers to do a stack of extra paperwork 📄📄📄 It’s why we provide Shell Card customers with the opportunity to let experts handle the refund application process for them. This includes liaising with authorities on their behalf to streamline the process and take the hassle out of it. Here are some of the benefits Shell Card customers get: 🏃➡️ Fast payments – reclaiming available payments quickly and conveniently, saving fleet managers time and improving cash flow. 🤸 Flexible refund options – including timely VAT refunds with/without pre-financing, bi-weekly prepayments for non-Shell invoices and excise duty on diesel purchases in available countries. 🧠 Dedicated advisors – providing an expert team that manages applications from start to finish, relieving fleet managers’ from admin tasks, allowing them to focus on core business operations, ensuring compliance and peace of mind. Now, in addition to the expert advice that our local teams provide, we’re pleased to offer VAT recovery services through our new commercial partner FastVAT. One of the leaders in the VAT and excise duty refunds, FastVAT brings their extensive industry experience to make the recovery process even quicker and easier for Shell Card customers. • 🚛🌍 Exciting News! Shell and Jan de Rijk Logistics Extend Collaboration 🌍🚛 We are thrilled to announce that Shell and Jan de Rijk Logistics have renewed their partnership for another 2.5 years, marking a continuation of a strategic relationship that has spanned several decades. This renewal is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability in the logistics sector. Together, we are focusing on implementing more sustainable solutions, such as the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO100). In a significant step forward, Jan de Rijk Logistics has transitioned its home depot to exclusively use Shell Renewable Diesel (HVO100). This means every truck departing from their headquarters now operates solely on Shell Renewable Diesel, reducing emissions and supporting a more sustainable future. Gerard Vegter, CEO of Jan de Rijk Logistics, highlights the importance of this partnership: "Shell has an extensive network of fuel stations across Europe, which is vital for a company like ours. With our own European network, it is crucial—especially in terms of performance for our customers—that our partners have a similar reach. This enables efficient routing and minimizes delays. In addition, we benefit from other advantages, such as the Shell cards, making Shell an integral part of our daily operations". Sandra Geilings, Cluster Manager Benelux and France, Shell Commercial Road Transport, echoes this sentiment: “The strategic collaboration between Jan de Rijk and Shell represents a powerful, longstanding alliance, combining cutting-edge logistics expertise with sustainable energy & digital solutions to drive innovation and shape the future of road transport.” Together, we are driving progress and paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient logistics industry. Here's to many more years of successful collaboration! 🚀 #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #Logistics #Innovation #Partnership #HVO100 #ShellRenewableDiesel #PoweringProgress
