Join my 5-Week Decision-Making Quest | Emotions are data for better decisions | Transformational Leadership + Communication Advisor | Dyslexic Thinking | Integrating Indigenous Wisdom Unlocking Authentic Leadership

Did you grow up being told “better the devil you know than the one you don’t?” At first glance, sticking with the "devil you know" feels safe. It’s familiar, predictable—even when it’s uncomfortable or unproductive. But here’s the catch: this mindset keeps you tethered to patterns, systems, or choices that no longer serve you. Here’s why that’s a problem: 1️⃣ It Values Familiarity Over Growth Staying with what’s known prioritizes avoiding discomfort over pursuing opportunity. But growth often requires stepping into the unknown. The Result? You miss out on new possibilities, ideas, and solutions that could redefine what success looks like for you. → Moving beyond this mindset means embracing calculated risks so that you can evolve into your fullest potential. 2️⃣ It Reinforces Limiting Patterns The “devil you know” keeps you locked in a cycle of repeated behaviors, even when they’re no longer effective. You tell yourself, “At least I know what to expect,” but that expectation can be a ceiling, not a foundation. → Breaking free allows you to challenge assumptions and make decisions that align with the leader or person you want to become—not just who you’ve been. 3️⃣ It Undermines Confidence in Change Choosing the “devil you know” signals to your brain that change isn’t worth the risk. Over time, this erodes your ability to trust yourself and your decisions when the stakes are higher. → When you disrupt this mindset, you build confidence in your ability to navigate uncertainty and create better outcomes. 4️⃣ It Puts Short-Term Comfort Over Long-Term Gains This mindset provides immediate relief but often leads to missed opportunities for long-term success. The safety of familiarity can cost you the growth, impact, or fulfillment you’re capable of achieving. → Releasing the “devil you know” frees you to prioritize strategic, aligned decisions that pay dividends in the future. So, how do you move beyond it? By recognizing that discomfort isn’t the enemy—it’s a signal that you’re challenging yourself in meaningful ways. In the 5-Week Decision-Making Quest, we tackle mindsets like this head-on. → You’ll uncover the hidden stories holding you back. → Rewire how you approach decision-making to prioritize alignment, not just safety. → Build the tools and confidence to make bold, strategic choices that align with your values and vision. The “devil you know” doesn’t have to define your decisions. 🔼🔼🔼🔼🔼 It’s time to break free and create a future you design, not one dictated by old patterns. Let’s rewrite the story of how you make decisions—starting now. ➡️ Join the Quest and take the first step toward a more aligned, intentional way of leading and living. https://lnkd.in/g6cn2AEs
