"if you’re saying yes to something, you’re saying no to something else.” saying no is a power move—but why is it so hard, especially for women? at our recent panel discussion in collaboration with Stree-Leads, an initiative of EdelGive Foundation, we explored the deeply ingrained “nice” trap and the freedom that comes with setting boundaries at The Quorum, gurgaon. from the fear of being labeled “difficult” to navigating imposter syndrome, our four incredible speakers— Aakanksha Gulati, Megha Chawla, Aarti Gupta, Radhika Ghai and Naghma Mulla, who moderated the session — brought the room to life with their honesty, wisdom, and actionable advice. here are some hard-hitting takeaways (that we said a big yes to) : 📝 saying yes just to avoid conflict or not upset the status quo is deeply rooted in women. 📝 start with baby nos, practice in the mirror, and build allies. a clear, confident "no" doesn’t need a “but.” 📝 women negotiate better for others than for themselves. 📝 boundaries begin with how you view yourself—and being aware of who you’re saying no to. 📝 there’s a pause between action and reaction. take a moment to stop, think, and respond with intention. the conversation wasn’t just about saying no. it was about reclaiming your time, energy, and priorities. it was about breaking free—from conditioning, from guilt, and from the constant need to please. what’s one boundary you’re setting for yourself this year? tell us in the comments!
