Empowering youth to serve Oregon’s communities through service-based construction projects.

About us

Our mission is to engage, educate, and empower youth through hands-on construction and manufacturing projects. We provide career pathways in high-demand trades while addressing the urgent need for safe and sustainable housing. By partnering with schools, industry professionals, and community organizations, we create opportunities for students to develop technical proficiency, workforce readiness, and essential employability skills. Our commitment extends to disaster recovery, reducing homelessness, and building resilient communities across Oregon. Through collaboration, innovation, and dedication, we are building skills, building homes, and building community. Learning Through Building: Students in Team Oregon Build gain critical skills in construction and manufacturing through hands-on projects that go beyond the campus. These projects connect students with their communities, making the work more meaningful. Classrooms become work sites where students learn technical skills in a safe, collaborative environment. The program also teaches essential employability skills like teamwork, communication, dependability, and leadership. Teaching With Purpose: For educators, Team Oregon Build boosts student engagement through hands-on, project-based learning. The program integrates Career Technical Education (CTE) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) principles, turning classrooms into active learning spaces. Educators empower students to find solutions to challenges facing all Oregonians, putting theory into practice. Partnering With Industry: Industry professionals partnering with Team Oregon Build help develop a skilled, future-ready workforce. These collaborations train students in essential skills needed by employers, addressing critical workforce gaps across the state. Industry partners also build their communities and give back through this service-learning model.

Lane Education Service District and Southern Oregon Oregon Education Service District (ESD) were recently awarded an excess of $2.6 million in grant funding from the Oregon Department of Education through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) fund. With this new funding, Lane and Southern ESDs have partnered with the Mid-Willamette Education Consortium to create and pilot Team Oregon Build, expanding upon the existing Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs already operating in these regions. The expansion encompasses areas impacted by recent wildfires, including the Southern Oregon Education Service District and Mid-Willamette Education Consortium. Team Oregon Build (TOB) is an innovative partnership between education, industry, state, and community to introduce youth to career pathways within high-wage and high-demand construction trades. Education and Community partners from three Oregon regions dramatically impacted by wildfire and homelessness launched this career-connected learning and disaster/crisis response initiative.

TOB 🤝 Willamette Career Academy Team Oregon Build (TOB): A groundbreaking collaboration between education, industry, state, and community sectors to connect youth with high-wage, high-demand careers in construction trades. Lane ESD and Southern Oregon ESD secured over $2.6 million in grant funding from the Oregon Department of Education, provided through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) fund. This funding enables a partnership with the Mid-Willamette Education Consortium to design and pilot TOB. The initiative expands on existing career and technical education (CTE) programs, such as the Mid-Willamette Valley Education Consortium’s Willamette Career Academy, Lane ESD’s Constructing a Brighter Future, and Southern Oregon ESD’s Bus Stop Project. TOB addresses disaster recovery, combats homelessness, and strengthens Oregon communities by teaching essential skills, building homes, and fostering meaningful community connections.

A Shared Vision Team Oregon Build (TOB) is an innovative partnership between education, industry, state, and community to introduce youth to career pathways within high-wage and high-demand construction trades. Education and Community partners from three Oregon regions dramatically impacted by wildfire and homelessness launched this career-connected learning and disaster/crisis response initiative. TOB trains Career and Technical (CTE) instructors across Oregon to construct transitional shelters, sheds, and supplementary structures like garden beds, chairs, and picnic tables. Once trained, CTE instructors lead their students through the construction process, providing them with hands-on education, training, and work-based learning opportunities that help them develop valuable employment skills, credentials, credits, and certifications. Students also engage in career awareness and exploration to understand career paths in construction trades and emerging careers in disaster/crisis readiness, response, recovery, and resilience. At Oregon STEM, we're passionate about the power of applied learning. This is where Team Oregon Build comes in! The program is working with students to construct tiny homes and transitional housing for Oregonians affected by wildfires or in need of stable housing. It's a win-win: students apply their math, engineering, and construction skills to real-world problems, while communities receive much-needed housing support. Exciting news from Glencoe High School and Liberty High School! Their Construction and Sustainable Design CTE programs have teamed up with Team Oregon Build to work on service-based learning construction projects. These projects aim to tackle local housing needs and support disaster recovery efforts. During my visit to GHS, I saw instructor Todd Patterson and his students reviewing the blueprint for their upcoming project. Engaging in real-world projects within the classroom setting allows students to connect with their community in a meaningful way. It also enables them to put into practice the industry knowledge and employability skills they have been honing. #CommunityEngagement #ConstructionProjects #CTEPrograms #teamoregonbuild #hsdccp #cteworks #construction #odeccl #careerconnectedlearning

🎬 Owner of Nick Alexander Films | Creative storyteller | Passionate Filmmaker

🚧🎥 I am thrilled to share that Nick Alexander Films has just wrapped up an exciting week of filming with our client, Team Oregon Build, across the beautiful state of Oregon, spanning Lane and Marion counties. Our team captured a wealth of interviews and dynamic B-roll in many diverse locations for two impactful video series. One of the pictures is with iBuild in Salem (Salem Kroc Center) who are building shelters for homeless and the other is with residents of Blue River who recounted the Holiday Farm Fire of September 2020. The first series is dedicated to the construction trades, showcasing the incredible opportunities available to the next generation. With the help of Team Oregon Build, a collaboration focused on training and supporting the workforce in the construction industry, we’re aiming to inspire future talent to consider these rewarding career paths. The second series highlights the four R's of disaster: readiness, response, recovery, and resilience. By telling these critical stories, we hope to encourage individuals, communities, and the state to not only be better prepared for future disasters but also to engage and inspire the next generation to take up careers in this essential field. We’re excited about the positive impact these videos will have and can’t wait to share the final results. Stay tuned! 🚀 #NickAlexanderFilms #VideoProduction #ConstructionTrades #DisasterPreparedness #Oregon Southern Oregon Education Service District
