FIP Promotion India Padel Open: In the second semifinal at the FIP Promotion India Padel Open at Bennett University on Saturday, November 23, the Japanese-Spanish duo of Kotomi Ozawa and Elisabeth Nogueras Lorenz delivered a clean performance, beating the Indian pair of Sharmada Balu and Prerana Prathap 6-1, 6-2. The second-seeded duo of Ozawa and Lorenz were quick enough to bag the opening game against a less-experienced Indian side. But Balu and Prathap didn't waste any time and a good service game saw them level quickly at 1-all. Ozawa and Lorenz then bagged the next five games with much ease to win the first set 6-1. The Japanese-Spanish duo continued in the same vein and won the first game of the second set quickly but much like the first set, Balu and Prathap yet again pulled off a commendable service game to go level at 1-all. Ozawa and Lorenz then won the next two games to take a 3-1 lead in the second set, but the Indian duo played out a good game to close down the lead to 2-3. Ozawa and Lorenz then won the next three games to win the set 6-2 and the match comfortably. With this win against Balu and Prathap, Ozawa and Lorenz have advanced to the summit showdown of the tournament. Their strong performance also made them favourites to win the title. Bennett University (BU), a premier institution under the Times Group, has made history by becoming the first university in India to host an international padel tournament. This is the first international tournament organised by FIP in India, marking a major benchmark in the country's padel history.
