Last week American Meridian, LLC was contracted to do a survey for a house that posed a few unique challenges. The house had a ton of non-standard angle points that we could just DR with a total station but it also had a hidden courtyard that abutted a brick wall on the outside. To be able to accurately reflect all of the angle points and locate the courtyard we deployed the Trimble SX10 (Total Station & Scanner) with the Trimble X9 (Terrestrial Scanner). One crew member was able to use the SX10 in the front & backyard to map and run two band scans while at the same time the other crew member could start with the X9 in front of the house run through it's interior to the courtyard. By using both instruments in tandem we are able to register the clouds together to create one georeferenced point cloud that can be extracted by an office tech. Sure you could try to traverse through the house or hope you get GPS signal in the small courtyard for some offsets but the SX10 & X9 method we deployed gives us total confidence in our data. They had a chance to hear from the Trimble team and seasoned surveyors about their career journeys. The Trimble team at this session also included Luke Johnson, Stephanie Michaud, P.Eng., Jeff Turgeon, EIT, Nathan Patton and Sophie Brennan-Whitmore.

We're #TrimbleProud of Mohan Lall, Product Manager of Mobile Mapping, who is also a gifted musician. Inspired by the auditory landscape of Trimble technology, he composed and recorded this original song. The track features sampled sound effects from the Trimble X9, the industrial hum of heavy machinery, and the ambient noise of office soundscapes. Additionally, Mohan reimagined the voice of Trimble Access and incorporated vintage synthesizers from the '80s, paying homage to Trimble's long history. Mohan took the stage to kick off Dimensions with a live extended dance mix performance of his song, accompanied by this video.
