Our collaboration with the Major Projects Foundation on WWII-era shipwrecks is a valuable application of #SeaScope. It's thrilling that our data can be used in this way and contribute to such crucial environmental protection and historical discoveries. 🔍 Using knowledge gained from the earth sciences and oil spill behaviour, we are delighted to aid MPF on its mission. 🌎 Check out more about SeaScope here: https://lnkd.in/gYNr_NwB #OilSlicks #Shipwrecks #EnvironmentalMonitoring
We’re proud to partner with Viridien in addressing the environmental risks posed by WWII shipwrecks in the Solomon Islands. Through Viridien’s advanced SeaScope oil slick monitoring, Major Projects Foundation has been able to assess and prioritise wrecks that are actively leaking oil. This collaboration is vital to mitigating the long-term impacts of these historical wrecks on both the environment and the livelihoods of the islanders. #MajorProjectsFoundation #Viridien #MarineConservation #EnvironmentalProtection #WWIIWrecks #Sustainability #OceansMatter https://lnkd.in/eMsAfRR6

🚀 On this day, October 4, in 1957, the first man-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, was launched. This commenced a new era of space exploration and triggered a space race that birthed Earth Observation and satellite remote sensing. 🛰️ 67 years later, there are over 7500 satellites performing a variety of tasks. Over 1300 of them are Earth Observation and Earth Science satellites and in recent years, the majority of those satellites now operate commercially rather than entirely for Government or Military use. 🎈 Coincidentally, the Satellite Mapping team here at Viridien also celebrated our 52 year since forming! We've been making the most of this developing technology ever since. It's a great time to be using and benefiting from satellite imagery. 👇 Our birthday blog post - https://lnkd.in/gEbUEJ_z #Birthday #Science #EarthObservation #WorldSpaceWeek World Space Week Association

Happy anniversary to the Satellite Mapping team at Viridien. Our satellite mapping team is 52 years old, which makes our team one of the oldest commercial satellite imagery solutions companies in the world! We’ve gone by a few names in that time such as NPA, Fugro NPA, and CGG Satellite Mapping, and our long, trusted heritage directly correlates to our expertise in remote sensing and satellite data processing. If there is an Earth Observation data set out there, you can be certain we have played with it and found suitable and unsuitable applications for it. By partnering with us, you benefit from that expertise and knowledge base without having to take on the trial-and-error risk yourself.
