Banking and private investors
Banks and private investors have a critical role to play in advancing climate action by shifting capital away from fossil fuel industries to the low-carbon economy. Climate change impacts pose direct risks for banks and private investors – while the need for a rapid transition to a low-carbon economy also presents risk.
Our work on this topic includes a focus on how banks can help facilitate a just transition that seeks to reflect the interests of workers, communities, consumers and suppliers. We also support the Net Zero Banking Assessment Framework, which seeks to assess the preparedness of banks for the low-carbon transition.
