Apple’s iPhone X was discontinued by Apple back in September 2018. If you shop around, you might be able to get the iPhone X at a cheaper price than it was originally sold for. However, our advice would be that you will probably find a much better deal on a newer iPhone. In fact, with March 2020’s iPhone SE costing £419/$399 you’d have to be crazy to spend more than that on an iPhone X!
However, if it’s an iPhone X you want, it’s an iPhone X you will get! In this article we will round up the best iPhone X deals available now, but be quick because they won’t be around forever.
Should I buy an iPhone X?
It seems the attraction of the iPhone X is that it has a better screen than the newer iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone SE, but we really recommend that you by a newer iPhone instead.
We would recommend checking out our best iPhone XR deals if you want to consider the iPhone X’s successor still sold by Apple for £629. Plus we have deals for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, which were introduced in September 2019 and start at £729. And if you want the cheapest iPhone going then the iPhone SE would be a great option – it has the same processor as the iPhone 11, so that’s two generations newer than the one in the iPhone X. Have a look at the best iPhone SE deals here.

iPhone X price
The iPhone X was discontinued by Apple four years ago. Despite the iPhone X not being sold any more you may still find one for sale. If you do find an iPhone X for sale now though it is likely to be a refurbished or second hand model though.
When Apple launched the iPhone X it cost from £999 or $999 for the 64GB model; for the 256GB model you were looking at a whopping £1,149/$1,149. That’s a lot of money, but there are now newer phones that start at less than the iPhone X did in its heyday. And they are a lot more powerful.
For an idea of the best price we’ve seen for the iPhone X: over Black Friday 2019 it was possible to buy the iPhone X for £619 from Amazon. Then just before Christmas 2019 the iPhone X was £599 on Amazon here. It’s currently sold-out at Amazon though.
We’d suggest that if you can’t find the iPhone X for less than £419/$399 – the price Apple is selling the iPhone SE for – then you really shouldn’t buy one.
Top iPhone X deals
As we said above, if you find an iPhone X for sale now it will probably be secondhand or refurbished. It’s very unlikely that anyone would have one to sell as new now.
Buying refurbished can save you hundreds of pounds. The first place to check is Apple’s Refurbished Store, which has a 64GB iPhone X available for $599 in the US, or a 256GB iPhone X for £699 in the UK. Given that this is still more than the newer iPhone XR, its not a great deal. Go to the Apple Refurbished Store now.
Another reseller to check for refurbished iPhone X deals is Envirofone which specializes in refurbished phones, tablets and other devices. It previously had the iPhone X for as low as £389.99. View deal here.
Keep in mind when you buy refurbished that the quality of the product may sometimes show a bit of wear and tear – unless you buy certified refurbished. When a device is marked certified refurbished, it goes through rigorous testing and repairs to ensure the product works good as new by Apple’s standards.
You can also find Amazon Renewed iPhone X devices. While these are not certified refurbished by Apple, they are thoroughly checked by Amazon technicians and come with a 1-year supplier’s warranty. A ‘renewed’ iPhone X (64GB) is available for £390.
GiffGaff is offering discounts on their refurbished iPhone handsets – you can save up to £50 on the price of the already cut-price handset until 29 July. GiffGaff says that its refurbished phones are “often practically unused when returned”. The company says it puts each handset through “rigorous testing for faults”. Each refurbished phone will be unlocked – so you won’t be tied to a particular network – and each has a 12-month warranty. You can get money off refurbished iPhone X, XR, XS and XS Max models here.
iPhone X SIM-free deals
As we said above, few retailers are still selling the iPhone X, but you may find one available.
For example, Argos has ‘limited stock’ and is selling a 256GB iPhone X sim free for £699 here.
In the past we have seen Amazon reduce the price of the iPhone X to £599 here, but then it returned to £899 and it is currently sold out.
