Kayla Nicole emotionally opens up on the pressure of being compared to Taylor Swift as she hits out at social media trolls over two years on from the end of her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce.

Nicole dated the NFL tight end on-and-off from 2017-2022 before they called it quits, on what appears to be relatively amicable terms. She's not find a new partner yet, but her 35-year-old ex has moved on to Swift and seems happy.

Yet the broadcaster finds herself drained of her own happiness, confidence and self-worth because of the relentless pressure of social media, where users are constantly comparing her to the billionaire popstar and giving Nicole abuse.

"I just get a lot of s**t because he's dating such a mega superstar," Nicole said on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. "I really like her. I think she's very talented.

"Being reduced to a headline, to something so small as someone's ex-girlfriend, I feel like if I complete this, it'll be a massive impact for myself. Am I doing enough? Am I enough?"

Nicole doesn't say much about Swift, but Swifties have a lot to say about her and that led to the media personality to beg her fans to leave her alone upon the release of The Tortured Poets Department in April 2024.

"It doesn't matter. I could post about the sky being blue and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation," Nicole added. "It's inadvertently affecting me to the point where it makes me question my overall value as a person."

Nicole breaks through key barrier

The pressures of being compared to Swift, even if she isn't competing with her, left Nicole feeling rather low and lacking self-confidence and worth in the world.

But Special Forces: World's Toughest Test may already be restoring her inner-strength as Billy Billingham recalls the moment she changed her mentality on the show and began to fight hard.

"She lets her vulnerabilities go," Billingham said to DECIDER. "From the first couple of days, she was questioning herself and started to lose a little bit of direction. And I think she was probably close to saying, 'I'm done.'

"We did the mirror room and she realized, 'The world knows everything about me. I don't care anymore.' And my God, you'll see. She then smashes it. She's a strong woman. But she was enjoying the cold, the wet, the being miserable, being shouted at."
