Marketplace Investor FAQs

Q: How do I change my current payment information?

A: You can update your credit card information or update your EFT (bank transfer) information using the secure forms linked here.

And don’t worry, we don’t hang on to your old payment method—our system will replace the old information completely within 24 hours.

Q: Where can I change my monthly gift amount?

A: You can increase or decrease your monthly giving level amount through this form.

Q: How do I cancel my sustaining donation?

A: Email us directly at giving@marketplace.org to submit a cancellation request to stop your monthly donation.

Q: Where do I start for an employer match?

A: Start by searching your employer’s name under Matching Gifts here. If your employer does match donations, the next page will provide you with the guidelines and form to use.

Q: Is my gift tax-deductible?

A: Contributions to Marketplace (through its parent company holding the 501(c)3, American Public Media/Minnesota Public Radio) are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

We recommend consulting your tax advisor for details regarding your individual circumstances.

Looking for documentation for your taxes? Request a tax substantiation letter here.

Q: Why haven’t I seen my donation charged yet?

A: If you’ve received a confirmation from Marketplace, then your gift has been noted and is currently being processed through our system.

It usually takes a couple of days to process contributions, and during busy times it can be a little longer. You should see the charge go through in the next week or so. If not, email us at giving@marketplace.org and we’ll be happy to help.

Q: Why do I see “MPR” or “Minnesota Public Radio” on my bank statement?

A: When you donate to Marketplace, the gift goes to our 501(c)3 parent organization, American Public Media/Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), and is charged as such.

However, your money is designated for Marketplace, so rest assured that your contribution directly benefits our independent journalism.

Q: Why should I donate to Marketplace if I’m already a donor of my local public radio station? (Where does my donation go?)

A: Supporting your local public radio station is essential so they can bring you all the programs you value, including Marketplace. When you donate directly to Marketplace, you help us provide on-demand content like podcasts, and keep our website paywall-free so everyone has access to trustworthy, unbiased news and information, regardless of their ability to pay.

Q: Where is my thank-you gift?

A: When your gift has been shipped, you should receive an email from us containing a link to track your parcel via USPS. If you haven’t received that email or if you have other questions, contact us directly at giving@marketplace.org.

Q: My thank-you gift came damaged. What should I do?

We’re so sorry your gift arrived damaged! Snap a photo and send it to us at giving@marketplace.org. We’ll make sure a replacement is sent to you as soon as possible.

Q: I don’t want to use a credit card. Are there other ways to give?

A: Yes! To learn more about giving by phone, check, donor advised funds (DAF) and more, check out other ways to give

Right now, our online giving form only accepts credit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a checking account. We’re currently working on getting alternative payment methods like PayPal and Apple Pay to ensure giving is accessible and convenient for all.
