Influential news aggregator Matt Drudge, founder and editor of the Drudge Report, anointed Vice President Kamala Harris as the head of the Democratic Party amid growing calls for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race.

Recently, Democrats have been calling on Biden — both privately and publicly — to bow out of the November race against former President Donald Trump after his performance at the CNN debate last week.

Drudge posted multiple links at the top of his site with stories promoting Harris as the potential new Democratic figurehead. At the top of the page was the headline “It’s Her Party Now” with a link to a report from The New York Times claiming Biden has told a key ally that he may not be able to salvage his candidacy in the coming days.

A link at the top left of the page included a report from Reuters with the headline “Who Will Be Kamala’s Running Mate?” The report claimed that seven anonymous senior sources with Biden’s campaign, White House, and DNC stated Harris is the “top alterative” to replace the president.

The news aggregator had another top headline link showing that Trump and Harris were a closer match-up in the polls than Trump and Biden, based on a report from The Hill about a CNN poll released Tuesday that showed 45% of registered voters support Harris against Trump, who held the lead with 47% support.

Drudge also included a CNBC link with the headline, “Taking on Trump one on one, Kamala will use her backbone, her values, and her experience as a prosecutor to expose Trump.” The report suggested Harris’ allies are privately strategizing what her candidacy would look like if Biden dropped out of the race.

The final link highlighting Harris potential candidacy included a YouTube link from Americans for Tax Reform titled “9 Crazy Kamala Quotes in 45 Seconds.”
