‘Lock Him Up!’ Defiant Steve Bannon Drowned Out By Aggressive Protestors As He Surrenders At Federal Prison

Former Trump campaign manager and White House advisor, Steve Bannon, reported for federal prison on Monday and gave a defiant speech while being shouted down by protestors before surrendering.

Outside the low-security federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, Bannon was joined by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a frequent guest on his far-right War Room podcast, and a hoard of protestors armed with cowbells. Protestors yelled, “Lock him up! Lock him up!” and chanted “USA, USA, USA!” as Bannon spoke.

“I’m proud of going to prison today,” Bannon raged. “I have not only no regrets, I’m proud of what I did.” The MAGA influencer also declared himself to be a “political prisoner” being held by Merrick Garland, Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi. Bannon is serving a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress after he violated his subpoena to appear before the bipartisan House Jan. 6th Committee.

Bannon will not have access to the internet or social media while in federal custody, which means he will likely not be able to broadcast until close to election day. Ahead of his reporting for prison, Bannon told fellow far-right conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec he was “excited” about going to Danbury prison because he didn’t give “two fucks” about going to prison.

Bannon joins Peter Navarro as the second former Trump official to serve time for refusing to appear before the Jan. 6th Committee. Both Bannon and Navarro appealed their sentence all the way to the Supreme Court and were denied. Bannon also faces charges in New York related to an alleged scheme to defraud Trump supporters who gave to a private charity related to building the wall on the southern border. Trump pardoned Bannon in 2021 for federal charges related to the scheme, which saw several of Bannon’s associates convicted.
