Two muggers were yesterday jailed for a total of 53 years for murdering a devoted dad for his iPhone.
Richard Smith, 27, and Michael Sexton, 28, stabbed Keith Soons, 36, in the head with a screwdriver .
He begged them to return his phone because it had pictures of his partner Sam Ramsey and eight-month-old daughter Tilly on it.
The pair, of Cheltenham, Glos, denied murder, blaming each other for delivering the fatal blow as Keith walked home in February.
But Mr Justice Stephen Silber said Smith was carrying the weapon and was egged on by Sexton.
“It seems that if you hadn’t done Mr Soons would not have been killed,” he told Sexton at Bristol crown court.
After Smith was sentenced to 28 years and Sexton to 25, Keith’s sister Tanya said: “This won’t bring him back, but I hope it means we can start to learn to live with what has happened.”
