Derby keeper Roy Carroll has asked Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington to help him revive his international career.
Carroll, 31, who has won 19 caps, last appeared for Northern Ireland in a 3-2 victory over Spain in 2006.
He's since been in a selfimposed exile after trying to oust Birmingham's Maik Taylor as the Irish No1.
Carroll is not in their squad for the Windsor Park friendly against Hungary on November 19.
Worthington says the ex-Wigan, Manchester United and West Ham keeper's willingness to return to international duty is a boost for the national side, adding: "Roy contacted me to say that, if or when selected, he'd like to come back into the squad.
"We have gone full circle on the issue which is fine by me.
It's great news."
