Applications for education and career development grants worth up to £2,500 for nursing and midwifery staff are now open for applications, a charity has announced.
The RCN Foundation has announced the opening of its annual autumn education and career development grants, worth £1,600 for registered professionals and £2,500 for student nurses.
Financial support from most of the various grants on offer is available to any nurse, midwife or support worker, regardless of whether they are a member of the Royal College of Nursing or not.
The grants can be used to fund continued professional development (CPD), training courses, contributions towards degrees and other development opportunities.
They include a £2,500 Foundation Into Nursing Grant for graduates in any discipline achieving a first or 2:1 in their degree, who want to study nursing.
Other grants are also open to healthcare assistants, nursing associates, midwives and students who begin their studies at any time during 2025.
Last year, the foundation said it funded 110 people through these grants up to a total of £165,000.
Deepa Korea, RCN Foundation director, said: “The RCN Foundation is proud to continue to invest in the future of nursing and midwifery through our education grants.
“These grants support and give access to professionals who wish to undertake learning and development activities to enhance their careers, but in turn improve the care they give to their patients.”
“Whether you are a nurse, midwife, nursing associate, maternity assistant, healthcare support worker, or student nurse, I strongly encourage you to take the time to see what funding we have available and apply for an RCN Foundation education grant.”
Successful applicants must find a course with which they will use the money to find before applying.
Applications opened on 16 August and close on 18 October 2024.
