David Bianculli NPR Sally Bradford McKenna and Nahnatchka Khan developed "Laid" for American TV and wrote the teleplay for the pilot, which Khan directed. Their sensibility is witty, wild and supremely confident. They give their star the latitude to roam freely. Jan 9, 2025 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) A little filthy, quite frank -- Laid kept making me laugh in unexpected ways. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 3, 2025 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Hsu infuses a lot of emotion into the tight comic dialogue, while Mamet remains an actress capable of elevating the most basic of punchlines. Dec 23, 2024 Full Review Weiting Liu Common Sense Media The series' tricky and controversial premise wouldn't work so well if not for Hsu's wide emotional range, from struggles with conflicted feelings to brave embraces of identities and regrets. Dec 25, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Stephanie Hsu’s dynamic lead performance is the main attraction of Laid, but the quest to figure out why Ruby’s lovers are dying and what this all means to her romantic life will be a funny and interesting journey to take with her. Dec 24, 2024 Full Review Erin Maxwell LA Weekly/Village Voice Laid is a brass, brash series that offers Hsu a platform for her comedic talent and an ideal partner in which to collaborate. deanna c Omg, this is the funniest show I've seen in a while. It's sexy and mysterious. I would've never guessed the ending/last episode. Please make a season 2!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Tim S This show has horrible acting and somehow is worse than the title makes you think it will be. Tried this show because I couldn't believe the trailer was accurate, not only accurate but this shows main character is not someone anyone should look up to you or listen to in any way. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/25 Full Review Andrei D Most jokes don't fully land and the action moves too fast as it approaches an unsatisfying ending Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Taylor H I loved the show. I thought it was hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. The writing had me going from laughing to crying. Just what a great rom com television show needs. I want a season 2 so bad! PLEASE! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Rodrigo C This was such a fun and original show. Watched it in just two nights so that gives you an idea of how good it is. I really like the cast as well and hope for at least a Season 2. Come on #Peacock 🤞 Must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Bennie W From the previews, I thought this was going to be way more horror based. Not terrifying scary, but it just seemed like it would go down more of that road. Instead, we get a quirky series trying to be more comedic following an unlikable lead character trying to cope with guys dying who she had sex with and her relationship with her best friend that something happens that makes it rocky. It was just interesting enough to find out what was happening that I watched the whole season, and then got irritated even more to find out it ends on a cliffhanger and I have to watch more of this for answers if it gets renewed. Stephanie Hsu did a fantastic job, she was a shining bright light in this show. Her character was so unlikable but she made you not care, but kept your interest. Everyone here did a good job, no complaints on the acting fronts (best cameo was by Big E from WWE, not ruining anything as you see him in the trailer). The episodes are short, which is also a plus. I have friends who I know would laugh their butts off at what was going on, so I know there's an audience for this, and if I didn't think it was going to be more horror based, I never would have turned it on, but eh, it's not the worst way to waste some time.
