Samsung gains 305Gbps network speed on its 5G SA Core using Intel processors

Published

on

Samsung and Intel announced a major performance breakthrough in the 5G SA core network. Both companies have implemented optimized data packet processing and a simplified system configuration to hugely improve network performance.

Using the 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor and the Intel Ethernet Network Adapter E810 with Enhanced Dynamic Device Personalization (DDP), Samsung has achieved a 5G SA Core data processing capacity of 305Gbps*.

* The capacity of 305Gpbs is equal to hosting 200,000+ users that are live-streaming standard definition videos simultaneously.

The resulting performance helps accelerate the delivery of next-generation, high-capacity networks. This will also raise more immersive 5G use cases that need much higher data volume processing such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and vehicle-to-everything (V2X).

iPhone 16 to get Samsung’s M14 OLED, Galaxy S24 sticks with M13

Samsung Apple Canalys q4 2023

iPhone 16 would have an edge over Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra in display tech. A Korean media outlet reports that Samsung is slated to supply its latest M14 OLED for Google’s Pixel 9 and Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro. Both companies will utilize the advanced screens in their upcoming flagships.

Samsung apparently used M13 OLED in its Galaxy S24 series this year. However, the upgraded M14 panels will be brighter and more power-efficient than the current products. With advanced M14 OLED, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Google’s Pixel 9 would outshine the S24 Ultra.

Google will introduce the Pixel 9 series in August this year. Samsung will hold its next Unpacked event in July to unveil new foldable phones. Apple, on the other hand, is expected to introduce the iPhone 16 series in its usual timeframe – September.

Samsung’s foldable phones may not feature the M14 screens. OLEDs supplied by Samsung Display are evaluated by their material set rating. The higher the material set, the higher brightness the panel will bring and offer enhanced power efficiency.

Last year’s Google flagships debuted the M13 OLED display, followed by the Galaxy S24 series. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro introduce Actua and Super Actua display tech. It offered higher brightness and power efficiency over previous Pixel smartphones.

Apple is the biggest client of Samsung Display. The company has been in discussion with the Korean display maker for its upcoming iPhone models. It recently approved the panel prototypes supplied by Samsung, which entered mass production last month.

Following this display upgrade, Samsung Mobile may also utilize it in the next year’s Galaxy S flagships. Previous rumors also claimed that the company would bring advanced display to Ultra and Plus variants. However, further details are yet to be known.

Google Pixel 9 design

Samsung is reportedly supplying M14 OLED to Google for the Pixel 9 series. The report indicates that Google’s upcoming flagship phones will outshine Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series in terms of display technology.

According to ETNews, Google Pixel 9 series would be equipped with M14 OLED supplied by Samsung Display. The report also mentions that Samsung’s latest flagship phones – Galaxy S24 series – apparently use older M13 displays.

Earlier, Google confirmed to hold its Made by Google event in August. This year, the company is holding its hardware-specific event almost two months early. It would help Google better compete with Samsung and Apple.

In addition, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro models will also have Samsung’s latest display technology. These flagship phones from both vendors would make the Galaxy S24 Ultra lag in competition with older display tech.

The last year’s Pixel 9 series also debuted upgraded display panels. Google introduced Actua and Super Actua display techs, offering brighter, longer-lasting, and/or more efficient displays than the Galaxy S23 series.
