Samsung is by far the most affected brand from the chipset shortage problem, as this issue just created a drastic condition for the company affecting its overall production line and other business tasks.

So, to tackle this issue the Korean tech giant is in talks with Qualcomm, and TSMC so that they can work together in order to balance the chipset manufacturing and supply.

New plans of Samsung to increase chipset manufacturing

As per the latest info, the Korean tech giant will be approaching some more OEMs for the semiconductors as it looks like these two companies will not going to be enough for fulfilling the processors’ demand.

This time, Samsung is looking to collaborate with the ASML in Netherland which is the only company in the world to supply EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography machines.

Apart from this collab,  Samsung is also planning to invest more than $31 billion (35 trillion KRW) which is expected to be the amount that it will spend on chipset manufacturing facilities this year.

In addition, Samsung is already increasing its production with its new foundry line in Austin, Texas in order to satisfy policies carried out by the U.S. government.

There is also a possibility that four new foundry lines will be built in the US within the next few years for future-proofing of semiconductor production and shipping to other firms.

Besides Samsung Electronics, Intel, and TSMC, are also considering some more investments to increase the production of chips and open new facilities, which will provide them to produce 100,000 12-inch wafers in a month.

In this context,  “It is likely that semiconductor manufacturers that are able to secure equipment used for front-end processes from here and on will gain dominance in production.” said one representative from the industry.

Google Pixel 9 to sport Samsung’s M14 OLED, better than Galaxy S24 series

Google Pixel 9 design

Samsung is reportedly supplying M14 OLED to Google for the Pixel 9 series. The report indicates that Google’s upcoming flagship phones will outshine Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series in terms of display technology.

According to ETNews, Google Pixel 9 series would be equipped with M14 OLED supplied by Samsung Display. The report also mentions that Samsung’s latest flagship phones – Galaxy S24 series – apparently use older M13 displays.

Earlier, Google confirmed to hold its Made by Google event in August. This year, the company is holding its hardware-specific event almost two months early. It would help Google better compete with Samsung and Apple.

In addition, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro models will also have Samsung’s latest display technology. These flagship phones from both vendors would make the Galaxy S24 Ultra lag in competition with older display tech.

The last year’s Pixel 9 series also debuted upgraded display panels. Google introduced Actua and Super Actua display techs, offering brighter, longer-lasting, and/or more efficient displays than the Galaxy S23 series.
