Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 crease to be smaller, Flip 7 to get new hinge

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 might bring a smaller crease over its predecessor. A new report indicates that the company will use thicker ultra-thin glass (UTG) for the Galaxy Z Flip 6’s folding screen.

Upgraded ultra-thin glass (UTG) in Galaxy Z Flip 6 will result in a smaller crease and durable screen. While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with a UTG of 30 microns, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 might use 50 microns thicker UTG.

TheElec reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 6’s new UTG should bring improved surface hardness and a smaller crease. Besides, a new hinge and even thicker UTG is expected to be employed in the next Flip smartphone.

The South Korean tech giant has greatly reduced the crease visibility with each iteration. Last year, both foldable phones debuted the new waterdrop hinge, which lets them fold flat without leaving a gap in the middle.

Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed the launch of its upcoming foldable phones. However, the event is expected to take place on July 10 in Paris, France, in view of 2024 Olympics kicks off in the same month.
