Wild rumor says Samsung could use MediaTek SoC in Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus. It seems Exynos may not be used in the next-generation Galaxy S flagships. The company’s Foundry division reportedly facing a low rate of yield-related concerns.

Korea’s FCC (via IceUniverse) reports that the Exynos 2500 SoC may fail to enter the mass production stage due to low yield. It would force Samsung to repeat what it did with the Galaxy S23 series – exclusively using Snapdragon chipset worldwide.

Complete reliance on Qualcomm for Galaxy chipset may reduce Samsung’s negotiation edge. Due to this, consumers may have to bear the additional load of chipset through increased prices. These concerns will likely be resolved by utilizing MediaTek chips.

The report says that Samsung may cooperate with MediaTek to customize chips for Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus. A customized chip entitled “Dimensity for Galaxy” could be utilized in the phones. However, there is no authentic evidence to solidify this rumor.

Compared to Exynos, Samsung consumers would happily use MediaTek Galaxy S25. The chipset is doing a better job on the Galaxy S24 series but consumers still prefer avoiding it. Notably, MediaTek chips adopt TSMC foundry, which is considerably better than Samsung.

Well, there are still months for preparations and improvements in degraded aspects. Samsung will introduce its next flagship lineup in January next year. The company also recently denied rumors of problems with its 3nm foundry division.

MediaTek is a Taiwan-based fabless semiconductor firm that designs and manufactures chipsets. Currently, it adopts TSMC for the production of chips, but Samsung may try to get production orders for its foundry business in favor of MediaTek chips in Galaxy devices.
