The novelty of the technique presented here is that it can provide fast and particularly suitable routes without considering the full scenario if environmental changes appear, and is capable of supplying continuous paths and also elaborate maneuvers if cluttered environments are involved.

Safe and Efficient Path Planning for Omni-directional Robots using an Inflated Voronoi Boundary

Three new sampling-based path planning algorithms for omni-directional robots are developed that are able to generate solution paths with a reduced computation time and increased path safety and outperform state-of-the-art algorithms.

Voronoi-Based Heuristic for Nonholonomic Search-Based Path Planning

Using generalized Voronoi diagrams (GVD) and exploiting geometric information about the obstacles, the presented approach is able to considerably reduce computation time while satisfying differential constraints using motion primitives for exploration.

Car-Like Robot Manoeuvre Generation

This chapter describes a methodology for planning feasible car-like robot manoeuvres by means of an algorithm that is capable of turning a collision-free route into a feasible sequence of collision- free manoeuvres.

A novel space adaptive search approach that greatly reduces the computation cost of nonholonomic mobile robot path planning and requires much less computation time and memory cost even without heuristic than the weighted A* algorithm, while still preserving the optimality of the produced path.

Generación de Ruta Óptima para Robots Móviles a Partir de Segmentación de Imágenes

A geometric strategy for generating optimal navigation paths for robots in static and observable environments, which has been successfully evaluated by simulation on over 30 environments, finding a suitable path in 100% of the cases.

Car-like robot path following in large unstructured environments

This paper addresses the problem of on-line path following for a car working in unstructured outdoor environments with a Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm.

Smooth motion planning for car-like vehicles

The main idea of the paper is to consider the car as a 4-D system from a kinematic point of view and as a 3-D systems from a geometric points of view of collision checking and the resulting planned motions are guaranteed to be collision-free.

Motion planning for multiple non-holonomic robots: a geometric approach

A geometrical approach is developed to generate simultaneously optimal (or near-optimal) smooth paths for a set of non-holonomic robots, moving only forward in a 2D environment cluttered with static and moving obstacles.

A motion planner for nonholonomic mobile robots

A fast and exact planner for the mobile robot model, based upon recursive subdivision of a collision-free path generated by a lower-level geometric planner that ignores the motion constraints, is presented.

Robot motion planning

This chapter discusses the configuration space of a Rigid Object, the challenges of dealing with uncertainty, and potential field methods for solving these problems.

Nonholonomic path planning among obstacles subject to curvature restrictions

This paper addresses the problem of finding a nonholonomic path subject to a curvature restriction, to be tracked by a wheeled autonomous navigation vehicle, using a technique called the Star Algorithm.

Trajectory tracking of mobile robots in dynamic environments—a linear algebra approach

Simulation and experimentation results confirm the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed controller and the advantages of the dynamic model use.

Integrated Path Planning and Tracking for Autonomous Car-like Vehicles Maneuvering

A new method for control car-like vehicles maneuvering using traditional planning and tracking algorithms modified in order to follow complex maneuvers in a frame of a distributed control architecture.

A compact piecewise-linear voronoi diagram for convex sites in the plane

In the plane the post-office problem, which asks for the closest site to a query site, and retraction motion planning, are both classically solved by computing a Voronoi diagram, which is sufficient for logarithmic time post- office location queries and motion planning.
