Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was hospitalized Tuesday night following an assault at an LA Fitness gym in Lake Worth Beach, authorities say.
About 8:45 p.m., the rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was involved in an “altercation” with multiple people inside the gym in the 8000 block of Lantana Road, according to a media release from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Hernandez’ lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, told TMZ that the rapper was in the sauna when he was attacked “without warning,” and did not have security with him.
Videos shared on social media depict multiple people beating Hernandez while he lies on the ground beneath the sinks.
“Take a picture, I want to be famous now,” one of them says.
Later, as Hernandez begins to walk away, his face bloody, someone says, “I’m not gonna lie, bro, I’m a fan.”
Deputies responded to the scene and are actively investigating, the Sheriff’s Office said. No suspects have been named.
