The World’s Digital Insurance Awards 2023 - An Overview
The 8th edition of The World’s Digital Insurance Awards held in 2023 were a great showcase of just how our industry is evolving digitally.
Following the same format as in previous years, with the Insurer Transformation category having been added to the lineup in 2022, there was a full awards programme running throughout the year which attracted entries from a large number of Insurers and InsurTechs.
In the early years of these awards, the levels of innovation were at a much earlier stage and hence, it was a lot easier to stand out from the crowd than it is today. This is good news for insurance customers, as it means the industry has made practical and meaningful progress towards a customer-focused, digitally-transformed industry. It also means the awards entries are a rich source of ideas and case studies of what others are achieving in our industry around the world.

The 3 Award categories:
Insurer Innovation Awards
The Insurer Innovation category is for insurers, reinsurers and distributors to showcase the innovations they have implemented within their businesses. Regional entries were shortlisted and then a regional winner was voted for by the TDI community. The 3 regional winners then went forward to the Global Finals where a Global Winner was voted on and selected by the TDI community.
InsurTech Innovation Awards
The InsurTech Innovation category is for InsurTech firms to showcase their digital innovation solutions. As with the Insurer Innovation category, regional entries were shortlisted and then a regional winner was voted for by the TDI community. The 3 regional winners then went forward to the Global Finals where a Global Winner was voted on and selected by the TDI community.
Insurer Transformation Awards
This global-only category seeks to recognise the insurer that is not only demonstrably pushing their own business to digitally transform but also, in so doing, actively shaping and accelerating the digital transformation of the wider industry. Unlike the other 2 categories, this category is adjudicated on a global basis only and only one entry is permitted per insurer.
