Daniel Jones' time with the New York Football Giants is over -- the organization just released the former first-round pick at the quarterback's request.

The surprising news was announced on Friday ... just days after the 27-year-old lost his starting job amid a 2-8 record on the 2024-25 season.

Giants president John Mara said Jones met with him this morning and asked to be released ... and both sides felt it was the right move.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is owning up to his role in the team's rough season ... admitting he hasn't performed up to standard, despite giving his all on the field.

The emotional statement came after Thursday's practice ... as the Giants prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Jones -- who was benched on Monday after losing his fifth consecutive game -- started by reflecting on his time with the New York organization, telling the media playing for NYG has been a dream come true.

Malik Nabers is good enough to hit up a Travis Scott concert ... but the New York Giants rookie still isn't ready to return to the field after suffering a concussion two weeks ago.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirmed the news at a press conference on Friday ... saying while the rookie will be able to participate in some practice activities, he won't be cleared to play in their Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

"He won't make it," he said.

NY Giants star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is letting fans know he's okay after suffering a scary head injury in the fourth quarter of the team's Thursday night matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The moment occurred with 3:30 remaining in the contest and Big Blue down by five. Facing a fourth down ... Giants QB Daniel Jones tried to hit Nabers on the sideline to keep the drive alive.

However ... Nabers couldn't hold onto the pass -- with his face smacking the turf and seemingly knocking the 21-year-old out cold.

The Cowboys won the fight on the field and one of the bigger ones off of it as well on Thursday night ... as a Dallas supporter absolutely pummeled a Giants fan in a tiff at MetLife Stadium during the big game in New Jersey.

The chaos erupted early in the evening ... when a man in a Troy Aikman jersey got so upset with a Lawrence Taylor supporter -- he began beating the hell out of the guy.

Check out footage filmed by a bystander ... the Cowboys fan pulled the dude's Giants jersey over his head, and then unleashed a flurry of right hands.

Daniel Jones and the Giants' season got off to a rough start Sunday -- they were blown out by the Minnesota Vikings -- and New York fans had no issues making their displeasure toward their quarterback known.

As Jones -- who went 22-for-42 for 186 yards and two interceptions -- was leaving MetLife Stadium following the 28-6 defeat ... he was hit with a chorus of boos and heckles from Big Blue supporters who were waiting outside.

One fan could be heard saying, "You suck!" ... while another shouted at him to go home.

The Giants and Lions are in the dog house with the NFL before the regular season even starts ... 'cause both teams were just handed hefty fines for throwing hands at their joint practice!!

The NFL confirmed the penalty on Wednesday ... stating both organizations will be hit with $200k penalties for the scuffles that popped off on the practice field this week.

A memo was also sent out to all 32 NFL teams regarding etiquette ... and any fights, like what happened between the Giants and Lions, won't be tolerated.

It's hot as hell out and football players are already sick of training camp ... so, no surprise Giants star rookie Malik Nabers and Lions safety Kerby Joseph came to blows at practice on Tuesday!

A fan watching the joint NYG and Lions practice at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in New Jersey recorded the altercation ... and the fists were flying!

The footage shows 21-year-old Nabers -- the 6th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft -- attempting to catch a pass that was broken up by DB Terrion Arnold.

12:35 PM PT -- TMZ Sports has obtained Lawrence Taylor's mug shot from his arrest.

Lawrence Taylor was arrested again in Florida this week, TMZ Sports has learned ... after he was accused yet again of failing to follow conditions imposed on him as a registered sex offender.

Broward County jail officials tell us ... Taylor turned himself in on an outstanding felony warrant on Wednesday at around 5 PM -- and was thrown behind bars on one charge of failure to report name or residence change.

Dexter looked sharp, rocking a dark suit for the festivities, while Donna stunned, looking gorgeous in a white gown at the wedding late last week.
