I don't have a green thumb — Easyplant makes it simple to care for and own a plant

Especially in a small New York City apartment.

I'll be the first to admit that I've never had a particularly green thumb. Real Christmas trees intimidate me and my dad would love to hear me say that it's really all his hard work that helped our garden thrive in middle and high school.

When I moved to New York City, all hopes for being a successful plant parent went with it — how am I supposed to keep a plant alive with minimal sunlight and hardly any space to grow?

Well, luckily, I recently found a solution: Easyplant markets itself as a product that allows anyone to successfully grow plants, no matter their skill level or lifestyle. No sunlight? Here's a plant that requires little to none of it. Small apartment? They have petite-sized plants. Plus, what if I forget to water it? Each plant the brand offers utilizes a self-watering system.

So far, it's proven the most ideal and optimal way to take care of and own a plant in an environment that would otherwise prove hard to do so.

Why I tried Easyplant

I selected a snake plant for the exact reason described by Easyplant, who called it the "most resilient of all houseplants." I often say I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my neck, so it's safe to say I consider myself a forgetful person.

Birthdays, Venmo requests, returning a top I borrowed — don't worry, I'll remember. But I've fallen victim to misplacing my keys, forgetting to set a timer for my clothes in the wash and not remembering to water my plants. There's a reason why Trader Joe's flowers speak to a girl of my nature!

Luckily, Easyplant makes it simple for apartment dwellers and those who are forgetful. A plant that sustains itself? Sign me up. And it comes in a sleek, neutral vase? Even better.

Why I like Easyplant

The plants are all self-watering

I've had my plant for about a month, and I have yet to lift a finger when it comes to caring for it after the initial set up. As aforementioned, I don't exactly have a green thumb, which is why I was intrigued to try this plant that the brand says you only have to water through its reservoir system once every two months.

The reservoir utilizes a self-watering feature that allows you to fill it up and forget about it. It's easy to fill up as well, since it’s no different than filling up an iron or your Brita filter.

And, this is an easy way to add a bit of greenery to an area that otherwise lacks it. While they have plant offerings of many sizes (from small to "huge"), the small size fits perfectly on top of my TV stand without looking out of place.

The options are endless

Easyplant has a large offerings of plants to choose from — from a small cactus to huge Majesty Palm Trees. Because the options are so vast, it makes them the perfect item for virtually anyone who's interested in adding some greenery to their life. Whether you're a college student who wants a plant for your dorm room or you're a family who wants to decorate their new home with taller trees, Easyplant has the perfect pick for you.

What to consider

Upon arrival, I wasn't sure how it would come in the box. Would I have to assemble it? Pick up my own soil? While the answer to both of those questions was a resounding "no," lifting it out of the box was a dirtier process than I had imagined.

I wasn't too sure how to take it out of the box without making too much of a mess, so I lifted it up by the bubble wrap and unwrapped it, spreading dirt and debris over my floor. But, with a quick vacuuming session, it was easily resolved.
