Checking of the hot sceneries of Katmandu
Boudhanath Stupa was firstly built in A.D 6th century, and it is the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. It is said that, Boudhanath Stupa was built by Songtsen Gampo for redemption. The height of the pagoda is 38m, and the perimeter is 100m. It scale is the largest in the world. The hemisphere base is stood a square tower. Four faces are drawn with Buddha-eye, which means the powers of the Buddha are unlimited, and Buddha can see everything.
Generally, pagoda is used to store ashes of cremated Buddha. It has not been concluded that who is the owner of the ashes of cremated Buddha stored in Boudhanath Stupa, someone says, the owner is "Kassapa Buddha", while someone says the owner is "Siddhartha", the Buddha. Every day, the Buddhists pray by surrounding the pagoda, and the believers gather at dusk.
The pagoda is located in the suburb of Katmandu, and it is about 7km to Thamel. It takes about 30min to walk to Boudhanath Stupa from Pashupatinath Temple. It should be noted that, when visiting, you should detour in clockwise, turning back on half way is not allowed.

"Swayambhunath" is called as Monkey Temple. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in Nepal. The temple is with a history of 1,600 years. The reason why the temple is called as Monkey Temple is because there is a batch of free-ranging monkeys. It was built on a hill, and it is a holy land of religion, but also a scenic area. The whole city can be overlooked after climbing to the highest place.
There are not only the Buddhist statues in the Monkey Temple, and Hariti, a goddess of Hinduism. For this religious meaning, government regards Monkey Temple as the symbol of harmony of Hinduism and Buddhism, and does its utmost to advertise.
The temple is located in the suburb of Katmandu. It will take at least 1 hour to walk to here from Thamel, while it will take about 20 minutes to be here by taking a taxi. There is so much dust along the journey, so dust prevention should be focused. It is suggested that the tourists should go there at dusk so that they can enjoy sunset.

Pashupatinath Temple in Katmandu is the place for the Hindus to hold open-air cremation. The Hindus believe that after death, their soul can only disentangle after they bodies are burnt, and their bone ashes flow to cross river along the rivers.
The cremation ceremony of the Nepalese is very simple. When burning the bodies, the family numbers of the dead people will raise the cadavers to the cremation platform. One of the family numbers will walk round the dead person for three rounds, and then place the torch to the neck of the cadaver. After that, wood brick and wet straw will be pressed on the cadaver to make the cadaver burn.
Pashupatinath Temple is the largest Hinduism temple in Nepal. It is located in the east of Thamel, and it is about 5km to Thamel. Except for cremation, it is also a place for the people for pray for fertility, recover and security.

Kumari is a freak in Hinduism. From the king of Nepal to the public, everyone adores Kumari. But Kumari is not a wooden statue or plaster idol, but a living person, and a girl.
The goddess is selected by royal priests from the public, and the screening process is very mysterious. It is said that the goddess is meant to be a young girl. Once the goddess suffers from her first menstrual period, she will have to abdicate. The selected goddess has to live in "Kumari Temple", and she is not allowed to meet with her family members. Only during special festivals and at 4pm every day, the goddess will show her face for a while.

Hanuman Dhoka means "Gate of Hanuman". It is the old palace of the royal household, and it was firstly built in the 13th century. Hanuman Dhoka Palace was built on a large scale, and there are about 10 palaces, most of them have not been opened to the public. Now, only Nasal Chowk and museum, etc. are opened to the public.
Hanumanasana is the hanuman in Indian myths and it symbolizes power and supernatural power. At the entrance of old palace, there is a statue of hanuman wearing red brocade. In the morning of each day, there many people in front of the hanuman to put their palms together devoutly for praying.
It is not allowed to take photos in the palace, so the tourists can only take photos outside the palace. The hanuman statues with delicate modelling and guards’ armies with bayonet rifle are the highlight.

Once, this Tibetan temple was famous for its selecting a Spanish kid being the Incarnated lama. This anecdote was made into a film, Little Buddha, by Bertolucci, the director of The Last Emperor. The Spanish rin-po-che has not been in the temple anymore, but it does not prevent the temple from being the most famous Tibetan temple in the view of the western tourists.
Kopan Temple also provides meditation and basic training on Tibetan Buddhism. If you are interested in, you can spend about CNY 800 to stay here for ten days to thoroughly remould yourself, just as the slogan on the wall of the temple says: "if you want to change the world, starting from changing yourself".
Even if you do not want to learn the knowledge about Buddhism, Kopan Temple is also a good place for you to go. The temple is far away from the urban area, so it is very quiet. There are many statues and strange plants in the temple, therefore, it is a good place to take photos and go for a walk.

National Museum of Nepal is located in the south of Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and it is about 800m to the Monkey Temple. The museum is set with hall of history, hall of ancient coin, hall of natural history and hall of Buddhism, etc. The Buddhism artworks, portraitures and religious artworks collected in the museum are worth taking a look at.
The museum was established in 1928, at the earliest, this museum is used to collect the spoils of war and weapons. What is the most important are the hall of Buddhism artworks which have the style of temple. Here, you can see many Buddha statues, sacrificial offerings, Thang-gas, manuscripts and other articles. And there are also the contents introducing how Buddhism came into being.
