In 1953, Chaplin moved to the suburbs of Vevey with his wife and children and enjoyed a peaceful old age. Lauterbrunnen is located in the southeast of Interlaken and is the nexus for western passage in the Jungfrau mountain range. Weggis is located on the shores of Lake Lucerne and at the foot of Mt. Rigi. This is a small town known for roses cultivated by the locals. In early July every year they celebrate their own rose festival. Every year’s festival will see the town coming up with various activities and the most famous one is choosing their Rose Queen. Many famous writers and musicians have visited Weggis, such as Goethe and Mark Twain. The Russian composer Rachmaninoff lived here for more than 10 years. He ended up passing away here and apparently his descendants still live here.

Engelberg means “the town of angels”. It’s a famous skiing and hot spring resort town located close to Lucerne and below the Titlis. It’s absolutely breathtaking here with lots of natural resources. Backed up against Titlis with snow and glaciers that are thousands years old; it is a place where visitors can enjoy all kinds of sports like skiing, bungee-jumping, paragliding, mountain biking, and more. After enjoying the Alpine style snow and ice in Titlis, visitors can head back to the abbey at the foot of the hill to see how “Engelberg cheese” is made, as well as check out the villa built back in the 17th century.

Stein is located in northeastern Switzerland and is close to the Germany and Austrian border. It’s name means the “gem of the Rhine River”. This is widely acknowledged as the “most medieval town in Switzerland”. The exquisite wall paintings on traditional homes have also attracted tourists from all over the world. The structures in the small town are at least a couple hundred years old, but all of them are kept in immaculate condition. Every house has a lot of beautiful murals, sculptures and window decor. The rows of colorful houses are like a long scroll painting coming to life. This is a place you’d want to spend time in as it is a city that looks like a living Medieval art museum.

St. Gallen is located inside a valley between two mountains in northeastern Switzerland. As a knowledge center of Europe, St. Gallen used to be the mecca for academics and artists around Europe. The soul of this city lies in the abbey that is over 1300 years old and its library. This is the most beautiful library in the world. To protect these old books, it is not allowed to take photos inside the library. The books are all manuscripts written on lamb skin paper and are generally scripture. This is widely recognized as one of Switzerland’s most scenic places. Schaffhausen’s landmark is the Munot Castle which can be seen from several kilometers away. This fortress was built between 1564 to 1589 and was designed by Albrecht Dürer. Get atop the walls and you can see a view of the surroundings unfold before your eyes.
