Lukang Town, about an hour's drive from Taichung, is one of the oldest historic towns in Taiwan. It still retains cultural sites, such as Lukang Old Street, Mo Ru Lane (Gentlemen Alley), Lugang Tianhou Palace and Lukang Longshan Temple. Lukang Tianhou Palace, with a history of nearly 400 years, is not only the belief center of Lukang region, but also the crown of the Tianhou Palace in Mazu Temple in Taiwan. It has very famous in Taiwan. During the Kangxi era, the statue of Mazu in Tianhou Palace was received by General Shi Lang from the Mazu's hometown of Meizhou in Fujian Province.
