The Old Dutch Hospital was founded in 1681 as a medical center for the Dutch officials and staff of the Dutch East India Company in the Dutch colonial period. This building reflects the style of Dutch colonial architecture in the 17th century.

ODEL Mall is a well-known shopping mall located in Town Hall, Colombo. It sells souvenirs, cosmetics, clothing, bags, household goods, books, coffee, tea, jewelry, electronic goods, children goods and other commodities with wide varieties of brands and reasonable prices. It is agood place for tourists to have a shopping spree in one place.
Majestic City looks a bit tired but it is one of the best places to shop in Colombo. The shopping mall has both branded shops and specialty boutiques. There are a lot of good finds if youhave enough time to shop around.
Branded shops are located on the first floor where you can buy branded tea, clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc. Boutique shops are located on the upper floors selling outsource manufacturedgoods of major brands and discounted goods. This tiny tea house has a floor area of less than 20 square meters, and is decorated like an old teahouse with wooden pillars, earthen walls, large copper pots, and dimly lit lights. The tea house is stacked with all kinds of teas including the crowd favorite Golden Tips and Silver Senok tin cans.
Saree Mandir has a local reputation as a “Sari Temple” in Sri Lanka and it is very popular among locals and tourists. If you are coming to Sri Lanka, purchase a sari to take the photos and integrate into the local culture. If you are leaving Sri Lanka, it is not a bad idea to take a sari home as a souvenir.
There is a wide variety of sari, usually made of cotton, muslin, silk, wool, nylon and blended fabric, which is light, smooth, thin and breathable. It provides a wide range of selection to suit every women’s style, it could be vibrantly colorful or elegant and subtle; with embroidered lace trim, golden pattern, sequins, as well as auspicious flowers and birds, geometric figures and other traditional patterns.
Barefoot is a shop that many tourists come to visit in Colombo. It is becoming more of an attraction than a simple store. Barefoot has been selling a variety of uniquely designed, hand-made clothing, handbags, home goods, etc. for more than 40 years. The goods are colorful and rich in ethnic characteristics. All fabrics are dyed with natural minerals and hand weaved which makes them highly demanded by foreign tourists.
National Gem and Jewelry Authority is a famous local jewelry appraisal agency that provides appraisal services for your gem and jewelry so you can avoid purchasing fake precious metals, gems, and jewelry in Sri Lanka. There are three appraisal fees subject to the certificates required. The cheapest non-graphic certificate card is about RMB 20, which is available in half an hour process time. The building has many jewelry stores that sell a variety of precious gems,which gives more reassurance to the ones located outside the building.
