Serena, born and raised in Shanghai and now living in New York, is a fashion travel gourmet and a senior foodie. My friends call me a small foodie; my mother says I am a picky eater; and my bestie envies me for my ability to always keep slim no matter how much I eat. But I hold the opinion that the sapidity of humanity's world results from pure joy. There are many food lists from professional magazines in the United States, but it seems to me that not all of the restaurants on the list are in line with Chinese (Asian) tastes. Therefore, as a senior foodie from Shanghai, I will continue to expand my food territory even though I live abroad. I will continue to taste the various foods in various streets of New York with my Chinese stomach, learn about the local food culture deeply, and share it with you!

Though awarded only one Michelin star, it is still one of the best steak houses in New York. The century-old restaurants like this one operate in the old school style. Their beef dishes are simple but really delicious. It certainly doesn't sit well with the list of innovative, well-placed and exquisite European cuisines. However, the local American food list Zagat has a huge interest in Peter Luger and have put it on their list with high scores for years. Because nothing is important, except delicacy!

Must-eat: Steak for two (USDA PRIME BEEF-medium rare)+tomato with onion (organically grown in the restaurant’s own farm) +Luger's Special "Holy Cow" Hot Fudge Sundae (evil dessert)

a leisure-style restaurant of Michelin chef Daniel Boulud: another collision between French culture and contemporary delicious dining The popular DB Burger has been laughingly known as one of the eight must-eat burgers before you die. The title is really quite eye-catching ~ chewy sirloin beef and red wine braised steak, with goose liver and black truffle as well as Parma bread, provides the richest taste that is beyond imagination!

New York's most famous Russian restaurant, the shooting site of Gossip Girl, and also one of the most romantic restaurants named by the media. Every year in the ballet season, Russian dancers will come here for a meal. This restaurant is colorful, traditional and old-fashioned, and elegant and poised. Low Tea set meal will always go with Russian caviar, and the Red Velvet is definitely one of the most striking things I've had in New York. Although the tea set is not delicate enough, the tea is worth mentioning, much better than that in BG Restaurant or Plaza Hotel!

The top Japanese cuisine restaurant awarded three Michelin stars and four stars of The New York Times – Masa, extremely cool, extremely expensive, and extremely invincible. The restaurant only supplies “Omakase”. There are 20-25 courses. The price goes from $350 to $595 per person (excluding drink fees and taxes) in March this year, but it is still difficult to make a successful reservation. After a three-hour meal, you will be deeply impressed by the unique and magical taste of each sushi. The prettiest one is red sea-bream in the spring; the most abundantly-served one is caviar; the most delicious one is red sea urchin; the most amazing one is fugu tempura; the most creative one is truffle sushi; and the most full-flavored one is top-level black tuna. The only problem for me was that the food amount was so much that I almost threw up. Special tip: there are only 26 seats; so you need to make a reservation at least one month in advance and only by phone, and pay a deposit with a credit card. If you fail to show in the restaurant on the day you have booked for, your 200 dollar deposit will be deducted. Non-VIP customers are not allowed to take photos during the meal.

As my favorite New York steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky is known as the "house of power" on Wall Street. This is where “stock god” Warren Buffett's annual sky-high charity lunch takes place. The restaurant provides selected beef of the highest USDA grade. The beef will be dry-aged for 28 days and completely cut by hand in the preparation process, which not only protects the natural texture of the beef, but also makes it tender and delicious.

Instagram-famous salad chain restaurant in New York, the new star of healthy eating in the United States. With timber tables and chairs, simple lines, and the main concept of eat local, the restaurant provides dishes made of red onion from New York, organic spinach from California and cheese from Massachusetts, and updates the menu according to the different seasons, so as to meet the customer's higher pursuit of food and quality of life. If there are restaurant companies in New York that have become a trend, then one of them is Shake Shack, and the other is Sweetgreen.

The Halal Guys opposite Manhattan's MOMA has been hailed as one of the top 10 must-eat street foods in New York. In addition to the various major media competing for interviews, a long queue of customers will be always seen in front of the restaurant whether it is a rainy, windy or snowy day. You know how hard it is to get impatient New Yorkers to line up for something willingly! The most popular dish, chicken over rice, is a full box of well-fried chicken, with rice of moderate hardness, chewy pita cake and fresh salad, mixed with white sauce and hot sauce. It is so spicy that you will get stunned, but would still like another bite.

You know that the foreigners' definition of sweetness is absolutely beyond our imagination. Fortunately, in New York East Village, there is a dessert shop Chikalicious as comparable to the Michelin three stars. In this shop, as if each dessert is telling a different moving story. If you send it into your mouth, you can feel the prelude, climax and ending, with every turn full of ups and downs. Sitting at the bar, you can also enjoy the exquisite dish setting art of Chika, the Japanese founder of Chikalicious who once went to France to learn dessert making.

Ps. A branch of Chikalicious has been just opened in Shanghai. If you haven't come to New York, go to Shanghai Xintiandi first.
