Walkways Around Queenstown

Frankton Arm Walkway is a flat walkway connecting Queenstown and Frankton, which is also the favorite of the local people in Queenstown. The whole walkway is built along a lake, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Wakatipu during the journey. Lake Hayes is on the way from Queenstown to Arrowtown, about 20 minutes' drive from Queenstown. Lake Hayes is a peaceful lake, and far from the noise of Queenstown. Lake Hayes Walkway is well maintained. It takes about 3 hours to circle the lake. You can also see the rare Australian crested owl there. Walking on Glenorchy Walkway, you can observe a variety of birds at close range, including a large number of wild black swans. Over half of the walkway is trestle built on wetland, which is flat and easy to walk on, and is very suitable for a family trip. Bob's Cove used to be a post station where Maori went to Glenorchy. In 1870, seven kilns were built there. Now one of them can still be seen on the walkway. Overlooking Lake Wakatipu, downtown Queenstown and Queenstown Airport, it has unlimited scenery and is definitely the most cost-effective walkway around Queenstown. About 15 minutes from Queenstown, Moke Lake is most famous for its reflection. Move Lake Loop Track will take you through the grassland and plank road, and then around the lake surrounded by mountains to experience the purest New Zealand lake scenery. On Ben Lomond Track, you won't be able to see enough of the lake under you and the mountain beside you. The process of climbing to the top is very challenging, especially at the last section. Once you stand on top of the mountain (about 1,748 m above sea level), you can see a delightful 360-degree unmatched lake view. Tips: 1. The section from The Saddle to The Summit goes through a private farm. When crossing, please respect the rights and interests of the farmers, and do not walk off of the track to disturb the work and rest of the farm animals. 2. Ben Lomond Track requires a full day to hike. Please plan to complete the hike in the daytime. The last section is very steep. It is not recommended for children under the age of 10.

Mt. Alfred Track is steep and hard to climb, but after climbing to the top, you will have a bird's eye view of the vast plain of Dart River, as well as the snowy mountain of Earnslaw in the distance and Lake Wakatipu at the foot of the mountain, which will definitely your trip worthwhile. The first three quarters of the track is a Z-shaped upward track, and the next section passes through the jungle. The last section leading to the top of the mountain is not covered by vegetation and is very steep. Starting point: The parking lot located on Glenorchy-Routeburn Road, about 20 minutes' drive from Glenorchy. Difficulty: high Duration: 6-8 hours round trip Tips: This trail is relatively difficult. Please make sufficient preparations before you start. It is not recommended to take children with you on the trip.

Routeburn Track is listed as one of New Zealand's classic hiking routes, with a total length of 32 km, during which you can see valleys cut by glaciers, blue mountains and lakes, and crisscross mountains. When you walk on the ridge and overlook the valley under your feet, you will have the illusion of standing on top of the world. If you don't have enough time to go through the whole journey, you can choose to do just a small part of it. The scenery is already very good at the beginning from the Glenorchy end. Tracks on New Zealand's classic hiking route are repaired and maintained to a high standard, and most rivers and puddles are crossed by solid bridges. The track may be slippery when it rains.
