Will you still stay at hotels when you travel to Tainan? 6 special accommodations offer you different experiences
Located in Yuguang Island, Tainan, the hoemstay “Mao House” is the representative work of the famous architect Mao Shen-Chinage in Tainan. Hailed as “Ando Tadao of Taiwan”, Mr. Mao Shen-Chinage is known for his clear water molding technique. Hence, the Mao House is also designed with a simple and clean water molding style. Modern and full of natural elements, it forms an unexpected harmonious coexistence with the surrounding traditional houses and scenery.

Logs, stone washing, daylight, and green plants are the most essential elements of the Mao House. Huge French window (floor-to-ceiling windows) and glass ceilings not only offer good lighting but also allow guests to enjoy the vast blue sky and grass indoor!
The breakfast time at the Mou House is also expecting. Not only do the butlers prepare for you Tainan’s local delicacy that people wait in the queue to buy: Six Thousand Beef Soup, Kintoku, Fusheng Bowl; and you will get surprise gift as a souvenir before leaving.
The most famous homestay in Tainan is “Xie Residence”. Located in the western market of the former Tua Market, it is referred to as the earliest ancestor of “Renovated old house” in Tainan. The owner, Little Fifth Brother, has renovated the private house with more than 40 years of history, sharing the story of the family with tourists for decades.
To preserve the lingering charm and memory of the old house, the host specially invited local masters in Tainan to make quilts, tatami, bamboo, terrazzo, and mosquito nets with traditional techniques; the piano used by sister when she was a child and the sewing machine used by mom, old cabinets, desks, etc., have also been preserved, full of traces of the times.
There is also a Chinese sweet gum tree that grows through three-stories in the old house, which was moved from Nantou mountain forest to Tainan despite all difficulties, like “Yugong Moving Tree”; How nice it is to stay here for a night and drink tea under the tree!

Located at the end of the most literary and artistic Shennong Street, Smoothie & Juice Bar, Tainan, is an old house and accommodation combined with artistic space.
The first floor is open to the public. In addition to displaying and selling some of the local designer's works of art and cultural creations, the wooden door panels, the white walls that are randomly painted, the tungsten light bulbs, and the old sofas, and the thick retro style makes it look like a photography studio. The owner is a photographer himself, no wonder.
The 2nd-5th floors are the accommodation area; the style of each floor is different. The owner tries to preserve the old house if possible and makes a lot of stylish and artistic decoration, absolutely a killer for your film.

At Zheng Xing Street, Tainan, there is a white building with a great taste of design, dazzling under the blue sky and white clouds. It is the “Jia-Jia-at West Market Hotel” created by a team of famous artists, one of the pioneers of the “Renovated old house” trend.
Formerly “Jia-Jia Grand Hotel”, Jia-Jia-at West Market Hotel was popular in the 1970s. The artists refused to accept the decline of Jia-Jia, so they integrated the history and culture of Fucheng, Tainan to create a new look for Jia-Jia. They specifically built ten “Non-home in Memory” story rooms, each with its unique characteristics and atmosphere in Tainan:
“Hong Niang Fabric”, an old sewing machine was transformed to a small desk, together with colorful old pattern fabrics next to it. In the “San Jiao Commercial Housing”, “San Jiao” means ancient variety stores. The lazy chairs made of rice bags and goods bags are seen everywhere in the room; while the hangers and pipelines in the “Weaving Maid’s Weaving Room” are wrapped by red threads... There are also themes such as “Huaishan Store Room”, “Wenqu Star Room” and “Water Lane Boat Room”, implying different Fucheng lifestyles and linger charm.

Hidden in the alley apartment, the “Fun Simon-Zen” is a homestay that brings the Japanese Zen style to the perfect and takes you through the Zen charm of Kyoto in an instant.
Gently pushing and opening the Japanese-style door leaf, you will see a long atrium corridor, with wooden tones, warm light, and long Japanese bamboo standing elegantly on both sides. The artistic conception in front alone can make one relax entirely the first second one steps into the door.

There are only two room types, a Japanese-style room, and a mixed Western/Japanese style suite. The separate bathtub in the room is like pulling the time and space into the Japanese open-air hot spring area. The room can support Bluetooth sound connections so that you enjoy your favorite music in the orange light.
At the beginning of 2019, the “Royal Travel” next to the T.S. Mall debuted, which was created by the Royal Hotel Group based on the concept of “When the tradition meets with the novel” and the first star-rated design hotel.

The hotel invited the Dutch design team to cross the sea as the leading designer, combine the Tainan local culture to cleverly transform the elements of Tainan, such as the old roof tiles, the red bricks in the city gates, the iron windows in the lanes, and the floor tiles in the house and reproduces them in the hotel through modern designs, impressing all guests with a distinct style of the new and old cultural blending.
There is also a 120 m2 exhibition space in the hotel, where different themed exhibitions are held from time to time, along with many local art exhibitions for sales. There is even a Liveshow performance stage that allows tourists to feel the artistic energy in the local area.
