Assembling in the cemetery, we will gather with Livia on A L T A R for a reading of her essay Death in the garden: Patrick Byrne's mortuary chapel at Goldenbridge Cemetery, Dublin. Dr. Livia Hurley is a Design-Fellow at the School of Architecture, UCD. Livia has published widely on Irish architecture and was co-editor and principal author of ‘Architecture 1600-2000’, Volume IV of the Art and Architecture of Ireland project. Livia is the Chair of the Irish Georgian Society Conservation Awards Jury; and a Trustee of the Revelstoke Trust, Lambay Island, County Dublin. Please note: This is an outdoor event so please dress for the weather. Participants are asked to remove their shoes when they gather on A L T A R. This event may be documented by film and still photography. The film will be screened and images used for publishing, press and social media. Students from Cambridge University in England will once more travel to Rappahannock County in early September to present Julius Caesar The play is presented by CAST, the Cambridge American Stage Tour, a troupe composed of Cambridge students who have been crossing the Atlantic annually for over two decades to bring the works of British playwrights to our shores. This diverse group of undergraduate and postgraduate students travels up and down the East Coast, visiting colleges from the University of Florida to Harvard, with stops at high schools and venues like the Little Washington Theatre on the way. In a series of writing workshops, these playwrights developed extraordinary new short works based on the theme of Jewish horror.
